I tend to let a thread be (aside from removing any profanity, inappropriate content, or blatant attacks against another community member) until I see that the majority of the posts contain some sort of flaming or attack against another player. At this point, everyone has become too involved in the fighting and arguing to be able to continue the discussion rationally. If the entire thread was comprised of flaming and personal attacks, then it is deleted; otherwise it is locked and the flaming posts are potentially removed.
There are times when even legitimate threads have to be locked because of heated arguments that cannot be set aside. Occasionally, those threads will be locked, cleaned, and reopened. Our goal is not to eliminate debates and discussions, it is to keep these discussions civil and friendly. No community member deserves to be insulted or attacked by another.
