Why does the Smith Virus have a GUN?

Yeah I've been wondering that, in the films Smith only has a Gun when he's an Agent, however when he becomes the Smith Virus he only ever uses what I presume to be Karate. Why is it the System FM-1500 that he has as well? He's not an Agents anymore. I know he still has the Suit, but he no longer has the earpeice and with Agent Guns only being entrusted to Agents it weird that he still has his.
If anything he should have an FM-1500 and not the System version.

Also after watching the film a took a huge sigh at what this game could have been, but we won't go into that.

And by the way, Smith is inherent to the system, that`s why he has that gun

Remember those organization movies that go back to Morpheus gathering in Mara...

anyway if you pick the machines` second movie, you`ll see Agents using Martial Arts and guns on them.
