Oh dear.

Thanks for the Official word on this. At least now everyone will know who is guiding the story which means (slightly) less arguments about storyline...

To reiterate, we already knew he was calling it in from home anyway.

We have always deserved to have someone put as much effort into this as we have as a community, and as such I am not in the least bit sad he's left.

Good riddance to old rubbish.

Give it to LESIG, at least they might put some actual effort into doing it more then once a year.

Some guy who used to write the sentinal and work on MxO's story.

As often as I am outspoken of LESIG, I know for a fact they could manage a more consistent Sentinal then Chadwick was.

Oh indeed...though Id rather see them ingame more than working on the Sentinal. Its hard enough seeing them ingame.

So we finally hear something after over a year of no word, no anything.  I suppose I can say thank you for the closure.

Oh give them some dues, they occassionally get a scanline transmission out, which has always been the main LESIG thing apart from the liaison stuff (and more recently vogt's personal project of the hovercraft battles)

Personally I dunno what to think about this. Perhaps this might mean less deliberation over the storyline between the different parties... it's pretty well known that Rarebit spends a lot of his hours on the story anyway, so perhaps just him working on it is a good thing? Although that means yet another thing that Rarebit's doing in his time here (getting worries of burnouts over the amount of work that guy does)

I think the official announcement was needed though, although it might as well have come a while back really in terms of the amount of input done recently. However, all the best to Paul, while he was giving us more attention, it seemed there was some good stuff coming out of the guy.

#36300428583 03/21/2008 10:46:22 Re:Farewell to a Friend: Paul Chadwick Jacking Out of The Matrix Online - Discussion
H'mm. At least we have confirmation at last.

T'ra Chadders. Every time I see Anome in the mission archives I'll think of you.
#36300428585 03/21/2008 10:47:34 Re:Farewell to a Friend: Paul Chadwick Jacking Out of The Matrix Online - Discussion
Well, although his storylines were often too much like comics, he still did a good job and helped shape the game around us. This announcement is a little overdue, but I think recently MxO's management (thank you Virrago) has gotten its act together and is finally telling stuff to us straight.

Thanks for the fun early on Paul, and I wish you luck in your future comics.
#36300428588 03/21/2008 10:51:26 Re:Farewell to a Friend: Paul Chadwick Jacking Out of The Matrix Online - Discussion
Will the story be more open for us to influence the direction?
#36300428589 03/21/2008 10:54:03 Re:Farewell to a Friend: Paul Chadwick Jacking Out of The Matrix Online - Discussion
Unless with Rarebit being the solo "head honcho" he decides to push us in that direction Ves then that particular facet will have zero change.
#36300428591 03/21/2008 10:57:18 Re:Farewell to a Friend: Paul Chadwick Jacking Out of The Matrix Online - Discussion
sorry for Paul, but yay for more updated sentinels in the future....i hope...

bye chadwick!! Thanks for the good input SMILEY
#36300428596 03/21/2008 11:00:40 Re:Farewell to a Friend: Paul Chadwick Jacking Out of The Matrix Online - Discussion
I think it's fairly obvious that Rarebit has had pimero numero solo control over the storyline for at least the past year, if not more.  If anything, they were just waiting for Chadwick's contract to run out before they made the public announcement, making it all official.

We might see new Sentinels now, because as long as the contract was still going, they were Chadwick's to deal with.  Now that Chadwick's not here, Rarebit and LESIG will probably start using/updating them on a regular basis.  Other than that, no, nothing will change.  As I said before, I've suspected this for a long time, this is just official closure.
#36300428601 03/21/2008 11:02:48 Re:Farewell to a Friend: Paul Chadwick Jacking Out of The Matrix Online - Discussion

If chadwicks responsible for the way the story is now, then this is hardly a bad thing.

If this signals the new descent of mxo at the hands of an even slower evolution and execution of story then that's just as bad.

At the end of the day im really rather impartial to this, i just know he never replied to my e-mails.

I think the idea is that he's left already for them to release this, so I don't think that's going to happen.

Oh and @ outlaw: here's praying, will wonder who does them though (equally praying for community one, as people would do great job on here)
#36300428603 03/21/2008 11:03:14 Re:Farewell to a Friend: Paul Chadwick Jacking Out of The Matrix Online - Discussion
producer's letter is now up in broadcast depth....new sentinels are good...
#36300428605 03/21/2008 11:03:49 Re:Farewell to a Friend: Paul Chadwick Jacking Out of The Matrix Online - Discussion
He's better off sticking to comics anyway after reading his prior work, and watching it here, so I wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.

I am honestly glad we have the ability to expand away from the restrictions that having him under contract caused, or rather, the restrictions I believe were in place, seeing as I in no way officially know anything.

LESIG being put over the Sentinal is a good thing, and it can now be done seeing as Rarebit is in charge of LESIG, and he's now the sole "#1" guy above the storyline overall.

As for whoever asked about the Bro's communication path, I believe it was stated that after the first "in game year" of story that they had no more input.

NightTrace wrote:

I thought it was just those guys who outlined it completely in the first year, with Chadwick filling it out, then from year 2 it was mostly Rarebit and Chadwick with anything that was thought to be a "major" plot line passed onto the Brothers for their nod?
#36300428620 03/21/2008 11:14:48 Re:Farewell to a Friend: Paul Chadwick Jacking Out of The Matrix Online - Discussion

Poor Rarebit.

Now everyone will blame him if the story sucks or something happens to delay the sentinel. >_> =P

This is the best news I've heard all day.  Thanks for the awesome wedding present!  SMILEY

Hopefully with Rarebit and LESIG in control of the storyline, we'll see more Matrix and less pew pew.

It was nice having him working with MXO, but as with all things, it had a beginning and an end. I know this game wouldn't be what it is today without the contributions he made over the years, so for that, he should be thanked.

I really wanted to meet the man while he was around, but oh well...

As an amateur/freelance comic artist, I wish him lots of luck with wherever he goes in the industry.

Thanks Paul, for fleshing the story out, and working with Rarebit to get the point across, even if we didn't get it at times.

Peace.

Well, at least it's official now.

Cheers for the work you put into our game here Paul, and best of luck in your continuing work.

EDIT: Oh yes, and can we please have a LESIG Sentinel now?!  I'd hate to see it go to complete waste.

EDIT 2: Nvm, just read the Producer's Letter...interesting.

Heh, Part of me was hoping to run into Andres Bonifaciaeo too someday. Ah well, Best of luck to him. I thank him for his work with MxO and also his Matrix Comics stories. I still enjoy reading those.

Disappointing, though I suppose it's not a big suprise.

Thanks for the effort you put into the Matrix Online during your time with it, good luck with your comics in the future.
