Turning down the master volume all the way to the left hand side of the slider does not leave the game silent, neither does unchecking all the other boxes under the sound settings. Not all sounds are heard, but movement sounds, hyperjumping, gunfire, melee hits, and weather sounds do make it through. I would like to be able to listen to my songs without the gunfire at least, please. ^^

Yeah i experience this problem too regardless of the pc im on.
Never thought to bring this up before, but I do indeed have the same issue of random, achingly loud gun blasts when the sound is seemingly turned all the way down.

As Roukan said, it happens most of the time when the game is minimized while in a window. It happens too, tough not too frequently, when using alt tab, if your screen setting is a single monitor. How it happens to you Van3ssa?

I've found typing the /radio stop command fixes the music when I tab back in. Never tried it after messing with the volume though.

I just open the radio but dont type in a url or /radio command. It nulls the sounds for me, maybe im just lucky.
BUT in fact it would be nice if the mute game audio actually worked 100%
yeah i hope it gets fixed one of these days

Do all of you use computers that have the sound card integrated into the motherboard (AC'97 etc...)?
I have a soundblaster X-Fi and haven't noticed it... there does seem to be a problem with the sound channels though... quite often I'll lose a whole class of sounds.
Eg: I'll hear only environment (birds, cars) or only some of the hits in combat...then it all comes back after a bit. This is completely independent of the music, which works flawlessly for me (with the exception of if I alt-tab out I have to use "/radio stop" to get in-game music back).
It seems like a sound channel gets stuck with a sample and doesn't move to the next one. Like it missed the end of sample event.
