Not necessarilly MA...

Ma deals damage, but still takes the same amount of damage from anyone else. The damage you take depends on the clothes you're wearing primarily. So, there's not necessarily a tank tree.

But tenshi is along the right lines, a tree thats based in interlock tends to be viewed as a tanking tree.

As for that question, by the time you reach 50 you'll be well on your way to mixing a hybrid load, as most MA's do now. So thats a mix of all three of the MA trees.

I think Gunners are the closest to a tank class MxO has, with the Yuki Dana and Area K, I had pretty good protection from Hacks and Guns (also helped when we were allowed to use 2 Hypers) so I could survive a lot of attacks (particularly from NPCs) and because I had Handgun abils I was able to fight in IL as headman. As MA now I see myself getting hit with guns a lot more so once in IL they are at the mercy of gunners.

Certain Patcher loads i think are the tanking loadouts. Don't do much damage but can stay up and healthy for a lengthy period of time.

As far as I'm aware Aikido Grandmaster has always been the closest we've had to a tanking class, what with the high defenses and abilities like Iron Body and Serene Calm.

Expert Rifleman/Sniper works for me, as you can deal massive damage with a hot shot, and then take down the opponent very quickly, before his/her team mates try to interlock you!

It's harder to pull of on the PvP server, as people will often catch you during the 20 seconds it takes to pull off the 'hot shot' as I call it!

In MxO there is no defined tanking class... because it varies, a lot.

If your talking PvE, most NPC's you fight use gunmen attacks and attack free fire with guns, so the best tanking class against them is a high defensive duelist build.

You need to understand that in MxO, the highest resistanec = best tank, and since you can have high resistance in almost any class then you can use any class to tank, that has best defensive options against most and uses high resistance stats and builds.

If I had to pick for a overall statement, then I probally would go either Trauma Surgeon with a few other upgrades with High resistance clothing or a UGM with some healing options and high resistance.

Any good trauma surgeon is hard to take down, unless he/she is focused down and controlled correctly. A decent Upgrade master will have good defense and health to hold off a large amount of attacks. My personal option would be a trauma surgeon with high resistance as an overall best tank, why? cause with the right resistance clothing can take same damage as anyone else, but has high level self healing.

You can mix a lot of things about, I would also agree with aikido, as I have a aikido/UM build which can tank like a rockstar if needed.

I'd say Guns (handguns and SMGs to be specific) and MA are both tank classes, they're pretty much the only trees (minus Utility Master) that give bonus to your max health in the title buff.

A tank has higher HP than other classes and has higher damage mitigation than other classes.
In MxO most classes have very similar HP and anyone can wear whatever they like in terms of resist.

We have no tanking class, basically because we don't have a need for tanks in this game. Anyone can "tank" as long as there is a healer.
