On the flip side:

From those of us who dislike PvP - I hate it.

1. You give a free ticket for ppl to be pvp a-holes to others ...nice going RB and gang.  Thanks.
2. When you die, you reconstuct in the normal Matrix - w/ full Rez sickness - *CENSORED*? Uhm ... yeh that helps ... not.
3.  Ppl like to attack you when your already busy with NPCs spawned from nodes ... nice ... more examples of ppl being jerk-offs.
4. Thanks for giving the CQ farmers an excuse to harrass ppl to get those stupid CQ points.
5. Thank you RB and Gang for catering to the likes of a small group of players (Super Secret Club).  The rest of us don't appreciate it and still feel sort of left out.

I guess I'll have to wait a few months for the novelty to wear off.  And then it will be empty like the other battlegrounds and THEN maybe I'll find it 1/2way tolerable.

No sir ... I don't like it.

And I am sure you all are going to flammen me out for this because you're all so in love with it.  You all go have fun ... I'll wait till you all get bored with it and then I'll give it another try.  Perhaps I might like it better if I was a tad better at some PvP.  I do admit it is my weakness because I NEVER was a PvP gamer.  If someone/s would like to help me learn more PvP - IN a friendly setting - I would appreciate it very much.  But not like this!!

Unfortunately no one can be told how pvp works...  you have to do it for yourself.

In all seriousness. Thats the whole idea behind the construct. You wanna get rich? Go datamine in the datamine construct, but be warned, its extreamly dangerous. Its a gamble, the danger is part of the fun. If you don't wanna pvp, then don't. Load up master shadow and be as hard to catch as you can. But if pointing a data tap at a ball of light over an over until your eyes bleed is all it takes to get you excited, then by all means, wait for everyone to go away so that you can play DTO (Data Tap Online)
#36300415295 02/27/2008 02:03:58 Re:First Impressions of Datamine

I'll lay out how normal combat goes, as a Sniper versus a Master Shadow.

Me: Line up the Shot. Sniper Shot.

Them: Master Shadow.

Me: *sigh* Conceal.

Them: Starts tapping data node again.

Me: Line up the Shot. Sniper Shot.

Them: Master Shadow.

Me: *sigh* Conceal.

etc.

That 20sec reuse timer on MS is a real pain...

#36300415337 02/27/2008 05:03:07 Re:First Impressions of Datamine

While I don't think that there should be a way to disable Master Shadow (I mean... it DOES drain 25 IS every 5 seconds or something AND anything other than Hyper Jump will cause you to loss MS) I wouldn't mind if they increase the cooldown inbetween uses. It certainly makes it just the more challeging.

For those of you that complain about it, yes I can see where you are coming from. I HATE getting ganked, and I'm not the biggest PvPer around. If you knew me, you would know that I avoid PvP unless apart of an event, and even then I try to avoid combat. But with Datamine, it's a lot more interesting and fun because you are trying to get money out of it. Before, it was just CQs. Now in a sense, your PvPing for the right to farm $info. I find it fun and exciting. Plus, you'll always have to be on the look out.

And there is one building that I know of that people can enter and that is the building with the Helipad on top of it. While I wish more buildings could be entered, this one building makes things either a lot easier to avoid death or a lot more difficult.

Finally, TC Death Squad was first started by Iovai I believe. I just started spreading it around. SMILEY" width="15" height="15" />

It wasn't the full FH squad, but there was a team of FH running around cleaning people up.  I actually ported into Datamine twice.. right next to them.  "Aww man..."  SMILEY

Admittedly, it bugs me when someone notices that you're fighting a data mining spawn and ganks you.

But if you're just tapping a regular node, you can stop, drop, and roll into combat pretty easily.

Props to the people that are basically there to kill people.. but let you finish or even help out on some of the harder spawns.. and then attack.   Honestly, super cool of you, thanks.

No props to you people that try to gank (always more than one) someone fighting a Data Mine spawn.  Especially after I ask nicely, "Hey, think I could finish this first please?"  If I didn't want the stuff at the end of the spawn, I would have jumped.  Yeah, it's pvp zone, yeah you can attack whoever you want.   Play how you want I guess.  Be a jerk.  It's cool.

1.  It was a free ticket before this.

2. Why should this place be different than any other place.  You die, you get "full Rez sickness"  It happens once you get past level 8.

3.  Already commented on that.

4.  They already had an excuse.  1 and 4 are very similiar.

5. So, I'm slightly confused here.  Reading DN1 and talking to a lot of people across all the servers, the general consenus is that people like this new addition. And I don't only talk to PvPers.. nor do only PvPers post on DN1 (you just proved that).  After FFA PvP was introduced with the Joker event, there was a LARGE crowd of people asking for an area with FFA PvP.  And I don't even think that's your beef.  You just don't want it to be PvP.  You do know it's a construct, yes?  All the other constructs are a PvP area.  It's part of the design.  It's why there's loot drops in those areas that you can't get anywhere else in the game.  And the challenge to get those items?  You're PvP flagged.  You have to fight a high level boss.   Datamine is no different.  You're PvP flagged.  The loot drops in this area that you can get no where else? - 100k+ per tap data nodes.  High level boss? - well.. FFA PvP, various left over Data Spawns, PvP a-holes as you put it, level 255 agents that you can't escape from unless you actually leave Datamine.  I'm sorry you don't like it, but that's how all the constructs are.

What would be the point to have SO much gain with absolutely no risk?  Where's the challenge?  Where's the entertainment?

This isn't a flame, and I'm not in love with the area.  But I DO like it.  I've always liked all the constructs.  And you don't have to be good at PvP to enjoy it.   I know people that openly and publically (darn near proudly) say they aren't good at PvP.  And those people like the area too.  They are having a ball.

If you're level 50 (I'm sorry, I don't know who you are) use Master Shadow if you dislike PvP in a PvP zone that much.  Hell, I'll even code it for you.

There is a guy on Recursion who needs to comment every single attack they do on me. Everytime like "RUN", "haha" or "pwned". He even does the exact same thing on his factions vent. How do I know that about the vent? I asked a friend who's in there.

That's the kind of lame people I try to avoid, otherwise farming and getting ganked is all in good fun ... even on Recursion >_>

#36300415864 02/27/2008 21:39:06 Re:First Impressions of Datamine

I've been there twice and i can already say it didn't mean much to me, i'm not going to bash as its new content and its well put together it just doesn't do anything for me. There was hardly anything new or surprising as all the shots rarebit gave us were essentially everything. Also the economy is already wickedly broken so awesome.

I'd like to say it could be a cool place to RP, but frankly now that people have gotten over the wonder of it, it seems to be back to CQ focal point so i doubt anyone who wants to RP will go there. But then again, i don't know how much rp is kicking around these days. It's pretty much what i expected a neat little attachment with no real depth to it.

I guess i'm relieved this wasn't dropped for the anniversary because it means there might still be some hope for that..... even though the last one didn't even live up to blue sky.

All in all, i can appreciate we have a new way of killing one another, i know this place has been killing me slowly for what feels like an eternity, and yes i am contemplating leaving before anyone tosses the usual flame out there. It's a nice little shallow memento about the way things are happening around here i guess, people seem content so one dinosaur shouldn't complain.

Way to be depressing darmy, no leaving for you. Thats the law. So sayeth me!
#36300417194 02/29/2008 16:19:48 Re:First Impressions of Datamine

Well All I can say with all the major factions comeing here in force, as I've seen in the last couple days, I'm glad I am some what loved still. lol. I'm very thankful that Fallen Horizon, Dragoons, and The Collective still love mez even if just a little. The above listed factions actually live up to what they say. And are in my opinion, some of the most respected powerful pvpers around. Course active numbers do play a big part in that opinion. lol not counting me they seem to be out to kill anything red......which is everyone, sometimes even their own faction mates. SMILEY

So folks if you don't wanna get ganked........Make friends. lol. Allies are great when someone is attacking you while your data mining. You know who you are. You people are amazeing. I love you peeps! *blows a kiss*

Now besides the pvp stuff.....My 1 and ONLY complaint is that I'd like to see more buildings available to enter. Can we please go into these buildings pwwwease? It would make the chase much more funz.

Seriously where are all the pvpers at night? I understand that all the europeans go to sleep around this time but *CENSORED*, it's kinda sad when people leave the construct after getting killed like once or twice.

Most of the time it's 198k.
Any tips?

I understand how you feel, Dark.  I was in last night, and I felt like a cross between a magnet and a pincushion!  I started laughing, since it was getting so predictable!  I had no idea I could have that kind of effect on people!

You just have to find the humor in the situation.  I got ganked while fighting a mob spawn too, which seemed especially funny for sone reason; I thought they would at least take a number and wait their turn!  I'm not the pvp type either, so for me the main attractions are:

-  The novel scenery (If I can stay alive long enough to admire it!).  I like the ruins, the water, the mazy pipes.

-  The chance for making great info until the pvp devotees hear the farmers are out and about, at which point they bail on Call of Duty/Gears of War/Halo and come looking for to gank the weak and low-level.  You just have to be thankful personalities like this are doing something so harmless (in the grand scheme of things).    After all, if they really wanted PvP, as opposed to ganking easy kills, they would be a hostile server, wouldn't they?  But I digress!

-  The chance to hang out with clanmates and help, always a pleasure.

I agree about waiting a few months.  But as they must live in our world on Recursion, so we must live in theirs in Data Mine.
