Disconnected

Every time I log into MxO, not but 10 minutes later I get a message that says Your connection to the Matrix has timed out. This has been happening all day.

I have a top of the line PC and almost never get lag, Cable internet, so I'm stable with graphics and connections.


I'll mod my post the best I can, although I don't see much I didn't add.
I'm on Recursion, this problem happens all the time for no apparent reason, I've been able to play the game fine any other time, just recently it's been shutting me off.
I've turned off all security and I'm running on windows XP, no firewall.

If a dxdiag is necessary I'll give it, but I don't think it is for this.

It might be an idea to back up the launcher.exe, useropts.cfg and options.cfg just incase. With the cfg files just save them as .txt files.

Once complete, restart The Matrix Online game. Toggle a Full System Check from the EULA screen then login.

Once you have entered the game jack back out, go back and rename the profile1 folder you changed back to profile.

Jack back in as normal.

I did exactly this and I still have the same issue.
Are there any other solutions?

Everything seems ok to me though i am not a professional, but i would consider check with your ISP and see if there is something wrong with your internet connection because sometimes, like what happens to me (But i use a router) is the internet sometimes never connects for a certain period of time. But if you aren't sure its your internet then after it says you have times out try to goto your browser and see if you connect to any website.

Also withing you MxO directory this will be a file(s) called ClientErrors_0 and as many as the errors you get the higher the number gets.

But if you find those in you directory after the time outs please post it. It might help. But remember i am not a professional.

I notice you have a SURFboard 4200 USB Cable Modem. Is it connected to your PC via the USB or ethernet cable?

Line 10 wasn't so bad because it's probably a stealthed network device on the comcast network (the pings were fairly consistent, but the oher large spike suggest that packets are being lost or something is stalling the network traffic. If it's UDP data that is getting transferred when a spike like that hits then the connection could drop out.

Can you please post the "running processes" section of the MSINFO.txt, there may be something on your computer causing the delays, or if you are using the modem with a USB cable I'd recomend switching to ethernet.

Please also run the following command from the run box on the start menu and then post the contents of c:\result.txt back here:

I am running on USB, and I would prefer Ethernet but my modem only recognizes USB.

amarao90: I see nothing wrong except that the first and last pings were lost. Why can't you modem recognise ethernet? it should have an ethernet port immediately above the usb port.

I believe the problem is because of your USB.

when connecting the ethernet , make sure you have a crossover cable (pins 1 & 2 should be swapped with 3 & 5 on the other end - usually these are the green and orange pairs) or it won't work unless you have an ethernet repeater (hub, switch, etc) in between the two.
Also unless you have an ethernet repeater the maximum length the cable can be is 15 metres.

Well, this modem was one brought in by comcast support, and the man who installed it told me that it would only recognize usb. I didn't think this was a problem. I do know for a fact though, that an Ethernet connection has never worked before. I will try again though.

I tried my connection with an Ethernet cord and it was as I expected, no connection.
I could not connect to the internet and I tried everything to my knowledge and got nothing.

It sounds like Comcast gave you a broken second hand modem. I'd speak to their helpdesk about it. It might just be their poorly made software that needs the USB. Either way they should never have given it to you.

Agreed, I suppose I'll call them and then report back.

This modem is almost $50.00 and it's newer and faster than the modem you have i would recommend upgrading to it. I took the liberty of finding it for you it is a nice modem and i think you should just give it a try.
