Well if you were just browsing that page it'd be a pretty easy mistake to make. No box or big ol' character art anymore :'(

Yeah, at first glance you can miss it's inclusion the package.

I'm surprised they haven't changed our name to "that other thing we have..." yet.  =p

I'm increasingly of the opinion that whichever person puts these graphics together (no doubt someone in SOE's illustrious Web Presence team; the bizarrely titled department that brought us such fine examples of Web development as this forum) doesn't know that MxO exists. Either no one told them, or they're profoundly ignorant.

Or they're doing it deliberately. I won't even begin to explain what that tells me about them.

Who, though? SOE or the artist?

If it's SOE that's doing it, I have to wonder why. They've been quite clear that MxO isn't going anywhere, so it can't be that they're ashamed of it or are trying to close it down. It's mentioned in other places around their site.

Methinks we should do some digging around about the artist. See if they've got an axe to grind or something. SMILEY

Considering how "hard" it is to get DN1 formatted, they probably didn't realize they had formatted that page too skinny until after they tried putting in the game links. Then, they realized the games were not aesthetically pleasing once all of them were in that width. "So...what game gets the shaft? Haha, who am I kidding? MxO most definitely."

And there's the solution.

SMILEY  ...speechless.  I realize it's still a part of Station Access (in the phine print), but to leave the graphic out, just makes it look like they don't care about promoting MxO at all.  The Everquest name gets THREE graphics, and nothing phor us.  ALL of the others get a spot too.  We are the only ones left out.  SOE needs to know how we pheel.

Ah yes, EQOA, most defiantly a better investment then time and effort into MxO.

Again, i think we're the only SOE game to not have a publically available test server. Both EQOA and PS do.

#36300409360 02/18/2008 14:58:05 Re:MxO no longer part of Station Access?

If you listen to the new podcast, there was pretty much a good deal to be said about MxO... But that doesn't mean they said it.

They pretty much went "There's a guy running around that could destabilize the System! Look up the storyline recap to find out. They're also getting a new construct. Oh and there's myspace.com/mxospace made by the players." And then, of course, they even brought up ShiXinFeng's e-mail and failed to read it for no good reason... I mean, they started, and then just stopped and went "Oh, well, he wants to know what's going on with voiceovers, anyway." Whereas with the rest of the games, like Vanguard, they spent several good long minutes talking about gnome piecake and their anniversary (I don't recall MxO ever getting an anniversary mention).

Reckon we just have to accept that SoE has its priorities, and MxO is not one of them. Seems like they give the shaft to most of their sci-fi titles when you look at it.

I was actually impressed with the last podcast. It seems the website makers screw us over more than the GMs and such.

/agree   We did get more mentioning in this pod cast than ever before, and they did talk about what an overwhelming response they got phrom MxO player in the SOE 'Why do you love the game you play' thread.  I thought we were on the right track... but then this thread came up. :/

...That and they decided to give the other games mentioned equal airtime. /shrug Made it seem like we were on equal footing if you ask me, whereas there were actually so very few responses from other games.

I'm going to go with the web designer/team doesn't know about MxO, because Iv seen a couple new game booklets from their other games that mention MxO on the station access w/ picture of Morpheus.

#36300409603 02/18/2008 23:52:52 Re:MxO no longer part of Station Access?
I noticed this the other day as well.

Sure, it sucks.  I wasn't the least bit surprised.  It's what I've come to expect from SOE and the utter lack of MxO marketing.

Here's some proof of SOE's lack of MxO interest that's hard to argue...

The Matrix Online
transferred to SOE August 15, 2005.
Vanguard: Saga of Heroes (developed by Sigil Games) launched January 30, 2007 and was acquired by SOE on May 15, 2007.  SOE also retained over half of the original developers from Sigil.

Do me a favor and check out the Vanguard site.  Notice something?  Yeah, there's content and features!  It's on the same scale as EQII.  If you haven't seen DN1 lately, it hasn't changed--at all, since an SOE intern originally spent an hour in Dreamweaver "making" it.  Forgive me, they did add the 10 or so new screenshots between then and now.

So, Data Node One has been around for about two years and a few months, and is content and featureless.
In much less than a year, the Vanguard community site has leaderboards, content updates, bug lists, guild search, player search, etc.

Part of this, I will admit, is probably because MxO doesn't track some features for a site like this to work.  But, it's not just about stats.  It has to do with new media, community importance (which has drastically improved because of Virrago, and I do thank him for that), etc.  I love how the second anniversary picture is still on the index of the site, as we are approaching the third anniversary. -_-  Rarebit even drew up a spec for merely listing the top PvPers by weekly CQ gain.  Yes, CQs aren't the most reliable gauge of PvP since they're still exploitable, but that would have looked good for the game.  Also, I'm sure if that were functional on DN1, time would have been allocated to fix CQs.

Notice, I haven't even touched aspects about the game, apart from the inherent CQ flaw.  This lack of affinity for MxO is reflected in DN1.

Yes, we are like the son that is born with some defects and is rejected by his family.

''Daddy SOE, why I'm not in our family portrait?"

Uh, there'd better not be anyone from Web Presence at Fan Faire. I'm liable to do something truly horrible to them. SMILEY Maybe smack them round the head with a book on programming Java.

Nah, they're community management. They can edit their own sites at most, though even Virrago still has to go through Web Pretentious to get half the stuff done 'cos they haven't given him the right tools. Walrus suffered the same problems.

We need someone either from Web Pretenders or Marketing do deal with the sort of issues highlighted by this thread.

#36300409731 02/19/2008 08:05:45 Re:MxO no longer part of Station Access?
Yeah, but we've already pursued the community ladder.

Raijinn & Virrago -> Ashlanne -> Moonlite -> Brad Wilcox.

Wilcox expressed concern, but we don't seem to have seen much improvement other than increased airtime in the podcasts (which is great, but clearly not resolving the issue, as this thread demonstrates). We need a new line of attack.
