No, I would check your sound drivers but as with all posts in this forum please check the Stickied threads about the properly format for requesting help.
I know the problem you mean and I'm guessing you have Vista. It seems that the launcher's sound is only single channel and under vista one sample has to finish before the next one starts (instead of under XP where the samples end when the next one wants to start.)
If that is the only side-effect I wouldn't worry, if it is causing problems in game as well then write back and let us know.
The launcher propblem is minor annoyance but the sounds ingame is worse. I don't know the cause, but for a very long time on both XP and Vista I've had my combat sounds drop in and out. It drives me crazy. I've added extra audio channels as well as reduced the number of audio channels and nothing seems to make a difference.
I'm running a Soundblaster X-Fi platinum, so the card is certainly up to the job. If I think of anything I'll post back
Same here on both issues...on more than one machine, the sounds are just generally inconsistent. Some days it's just amazing the 3-D environmental effects and the clarity of the playback. Others, it's just me and the creepy sounds of my footsteps echoing behind me. On everything from integrated audio to an X-Fi Fatal1ty...
