Will we find out the truth about Agent Pace?!
#36300401295 02/07/2008 00:02:16 Re:[9.2.5] Mach mission feedback thread: "Confession"
I think the truth's going to be about the Intruder...
#36300401310 02/07/2008 01:05:03 Re:[9.2.5] Mach mission feedback thread: "Confession"

Nooo no more confessions, no more revealed truths!

*covers ears and ears and repeats*

Ignorance is bliss... ignorance is bliss... ignorance is bliss...

Nooo! A potentially really interesting mission comes up on the same week I start an office job? I don't want to wait an extra four hours before I can do the mission! SMILEY

You think thats bad, my lunchbreak on Thursdays happens at the same time as the server restart, they come back up just as I need to head back to work which means I have to wait til I get back home and after I make some dinner...

Last week I was lucky and my break was shifted to the right... I'm hoping I can do the same today...

I loved this missions, as simple as it was.  I thought meeting with Gray was the end and I was like, "aww, short mission."  Then he sends me to the meeting (which I expected would take place in an Le or even the next cine) and I was like, "ooh schweet!"  I think being at the LE where Pace convinced Intruder to meet made this mission even more fun.  Beating up Hypatia and Bookwyrms was fun too.  Oh and explaining Hypatia's and Gray's return was nice as well.  2 thumbs up!

so... It's clearly IMPOSSIBLE for a program to die in the Matrix this days, huh ?

Even in the films programs never really died (the Oracle for instance)  We saw agents killed the films, but they returned (I guess a human killing an agent and a human with hacking powers killing an agent is a little different.)  But I think it makes sense, why wouldn't they have backups?

Think of killing a program in the same way as sending it to the recycle bin... It can be retrieved, if not... well you always have your backup data.. (always make backups)

It's just that when Skinner died, nobody asked about a backup or something like that... This game looks a bit too much like comic books sometimes for me... you know, the rule "Only Ben Parker and Bruce Wayne's parents stay dead". Here it's the same but with Skinner and the Assassin.
#36300401781 02/07/2008 11:35:05 Re:[9.2.5] Mach mission feedback thread: "Confession"
Skinner died at the Assassin's hand, didn't he? The Assassin was kinda special - he had killcodes and could undoubtedly have deleted any program he wanted. Permanently.
#36300401822 02/07/2008 12:09:49 Re:[9.2.5] Mach mission feedback thread: "Confession"
Skinner was infected with the Assassin's corruption virus. If he had remained, it would have spread through the Agent system. Skinner deleted himself to stop the spread of the virus--he basically ripped himself inside-out and eradicated himself from the system to stop the spread of the virus, so his case is a little different than Gray getting slam dunked by the intruder.
#36300401885 02/07/2008 13:47:08 Re:[9.2.5] Mach mission feedback thread: "Confession"
Now that I got the right thread...

lol I killed Hypatia...

Weird having Gray as Controller because I didn't know he was restored yet.

Anyway, kinda boring meeting between the big brass. The biological interface program is obviously the only thing the Intruder wants, but why? And who is it? They said the Intruder detected it outside the simulation...was it Sati?

EDIT: oh and I wish someone would just stay dead. besides the above mentioned and those killed with their signals locked right after the mainframe got hacked.

Oh yeah true I forgot about that, it was so long ago... Skinner was the man.

I thought it was weak that both Gray and Hypatia got magically restored just like that... Well, maybe not just like that in Hypatia's case. Anyway, it was cool to see the meeting and I think we all know what, exactly, he's after...

Yay, tommorow's Friday, gonna go out and try to do a little biological interfacing myself...  SMILEY

Gray's return seems a bit jarring in the mission, but Syntaxian Machinists at least were kept up-to-date regarding his progress this past week, so it seemed more natural for us.
#36300402337 02/08/2008 02:44:58 Re:[9.2.5] Mach mission feedback thread: "Confession"
He was ushered back into service fairly quickly, quicker than Pace who, I believe, was still suffering from the Oracle killcode attack a week later. Keeping an eye on his actions and communications would be prudent for a while until we are sure he hasn't suffered any problems that may have slipped the diagnostic...
#36300402453 02/08/2008 09:30:49 Re:[9.2.5] Mach mission feedback thread: "Confession"
Here's a summary because Zippy demanded it (and he has a terrible temper when he drinks...)

Agent Gray is fine; he was reconstructed by the Machines. However, it seems the Bookwyrms didn't do so well with the reconstruction of Hypatia. She's been rebuilt only partially, and she is now an incomplete "Accelerated" program. Our first priority is to destroy her again.

Inside the site Bookwyrms guard Hypatia, screaming "There's nothing wrong with her!" and "Stay away!"

Our next objective is to let the Intruder know that the Architect is ready to meet with him. Inside the target building you find the Intruder with two Accelerated Agents, both of which do not talk or do anything at all aside from patrol around in circles.

Intruder: All right. I assume they know what will happen if they try lying to me again.

Agent Gray wants to confer briefly with you before the meeting starts. Inside the next building are two Agents who assure you order will be restored and what the duties of a program is (to serve the system that created it).

Agent Gray: We did...mislead the intruder before he entered the Matrix. This was done in an attempt to convince him that there was no need for him to enter the System, as it was clear that his presence would present many dangers.
We now find ourselves forced to tell him the truth, again in the hope of preventing his presence within the Matrix. If this fails as well, then the situation will be grave indeed.

Agent Pace: I am counting on you to be prepared for any eventuality, tesoro. As programs, we are at a great disadvantage when facing the intruder's override codes.

Gray then instructs you to meet with the Architect, Pace, the intruder and himself.

Intruder: No more stalling. I know it exists. Give me the biological interface program!

The Architect: You are correct to posit the program's existence. However, we did not create it. There is only one extant copy: the one that was removed from this simulation--the one that you yourself detected outside of the System.

Intruder: ... *CENSORED* and blast these useless programs...

Both Agents and the Architect thank you for attending, and Pace shows relief that the intruder is convinced.

Agent Gray: As logic alone does not direct the intruder, his next move cannot be predicted with absolute certainty..but if he is, in fact, convinced that the object of his search is not here, he should leave the System, and we will be able to restore the simulation to its optimal state.

I'm hoping that I'm not the only who has noticed Gray's new (old?) mannerisms when he speaks :p

It was... inevitable.

#36300403378 02/09/2008 23:44:32 Re:[9.2.5] Mach mission feedback thread: "Confession"
Biological Interface.  Something that allows a human to control a Machine in the real?  Is that why the Intruder got so pissed at Neo being able to destroy sentinels?

He's obviously detected it in the real, but was it in Neo?  If so, how did it become apart of him?
#36300406396 02/14/2008 13:45:43 Re:[9.2.5] Mach mission feedback thread: "Confession"

Making me have to delete Hypatia was just awful!!! SMILEY" width="15" height="15" /> At least with her accelerated floaty dot head thingy it made it feel more like we were just hurting her to help her get better and back to normal in the end.. but still! O_O

I like Hypatia and it was hard to do SMILEY

I'm angry at you, Cap0ne. Plus, I can't believe nobody brought this up:

Is this not a real confession?

I hope this teaches all of you, ALWAYS TALK TO TALKABLE NPCS AT LEAST TWICE IN EVERY MISSION PHASE.

Oh, and this officially makes Pace a wussy Agent.

But....in one mission every agent was affected by Accelerator program except her.  If the rumors are true that Trinity = Pace, then I don't see her being affected by The Intruder.

How did that Pace is Trinity rumor get started?

I think part of it at least was from those corrupted fragments of Assassin's memory things that said he wanted to recycle Trinity's body but Machines didn't let him for whatever reason SMILEY
