Well, i joined in two days ago, my knowledge is quite limited. So i was thinking of buying the matrix online guide, but i couldn't since D2D only sell it to people in Canada and the USA.
So i'm wondering if there are any good guides to matrix online out there.

Can we only play in the matrix? or is it possible for redpills to go to Zion?
I've got the understanding that there are chapters in this game (i've never played any mmog or whatever it's called before.) So do i start at the first chapter, or what?

Oh yeah, and why do i keep getting *you can't attack without reason* or something like that? Isn't it enough reason to attack someone if they are shooting at you?

Howdy, welcome to the Matrix and all that malarky.

Unfortunatly i'm no the best person to answer this as when i started i didn't have a clue what was going on either, but asking around is always a good idea, people were very helpful to me.

Also, there is a guide section in this forum that has lots of info and stuff on it, don't know about any other types of guides, cause as i say i just jumped into it also never having played one of these things before.

As for playing in zion, unfortunatly...or fortunatly depending on your point of view (Zion was a tad dull in the films to be honest) you can't at the minute, the loading area is as close as you get, but the Matrix is a much bigger place than you might think when you first start with lots to see and do, what with those 4 districts not to mention the constructs you can visit.

And currently we are on chapter 9 and when you get your critical missions and get involved in the story you'll be on the same page as everyone else. But to find out more of the backstory and whats gone before etc. you can buy archive missions from archive vendors that lets you catch up on the story and gives pretty good xp too SMILEY As well as looking at old live events on these here boards to keep you up to date an all.

As for the not being able to fight, think that might be an annoying bug, or maybe your weapons broke or something...not sure, have to get more info to find out, sorry.

Anywho, hope that helps a bit...Have fun!

Welcome to the fight, Operative!

I'm actually quite thrilled to see that someone with no experience in MMO's decided to pick us to try first. That's really cool!

Okay, about your questions:

To get the most help for game play, try to read through the Guides and FAQ's forum. Also, you can use the Search function for the forums to find almost anything you're looking for. We are working on a Player Guide for MxO to be hosted on the main page, but it's not complete just yet. Look for it to be finished in the next 4-6 weeks, though!

As far as going to Zion is concerned, outside of fanfic, the Loading Area you enter when you start up the game is the closest you'll get to it, I'm afraid.

The chapters you refer to are chapters in the story of the Matrix Online. The story has been ongoing since the beginning of game and we are now on Chapter 9. Each chapter has critical missions and live events for the players to interact with the story and the main characters from the movies. You can go through the archived critical missions from past chapters by buying them from your organization's archivist. But keep in mind that the story is constantly moving, so catch up as soon as you can!

Your problem with combat will most likely be resolved by emptying some of your inventory, as it sounds like the problem that is cause when trying to return a weapon into your inventory. This happens automatically when you go from shooting a gun to hand-to-hand combat.

Hope this helps, and don't hesitate to ask more questions if you need to!

See you inside.

Welcome!  If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask them here or you can contact myself (amongst many others) in game.  Just send a /tell to Shinryu.

The others have covered the basics of getting help, but I'll just say that the guide is not in any way shape or form worth getting (well, unless you want outdated and probably humerous reading material).

Thanks for the help =)

ShiXinFeng: Heh, well i bought the game "path of neo" and loved it, researced a bit about matrix and then i found out that matrix has an online game, never heard about it before. But i thought it looked more interesting then other online games i've heard of. (And i am too curious for my own good, i wanted to see what happens after the movies)

Anyone who knows of any common problem with viewing the cinematics in the loading area? i can only hear what's
going on but i can't see anything. I've got the latest update for my 7300 geforce.

Not sure if you've found that, but if you can't see the cinematics in game for whatever reason, there's a place you can view them.  SMILEY

I have heard of your problem before though I've never experienced it myself.  I'd suggest checking out the Tech Help section to see if you can find a previous topic about the same issue.

Ah thanks! I found the cinematics on youtube too. But it would be better if i could get the problem fixed. I guess i'll figure it out one way or the other.

I've been searching this matter, and can't quite find an answer. I was wondering about reputation level and critical missions. Like how much rep must i have before the next critical mission? I've only had one story line mission so far. So i'm just wondering if there is any "rules" do x missions for next critical mission or something like that.

No, not really. I think there used to be a min rep requirement for crit missions, but I don't think this is in place anymore.

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong on this, but I think each story subchapter is 6 weeks long, with a new crit mission being pumped out every week (on Thursday) except for the sixth week, which is a by-week for crits.

As fas as I can tell, the rep requirement is still on. The minimum to have the whole set of critical missions is 50.

Yeah, it seems like you got to be level 50 to get critical missions right away or something.

I just entered the white hallway by... well not exactly by accident. But i'm wondering what it's for. Is that where the machine key is supposed to be used?

that's not entirely correct. what he meant is that you have to have a Organization reputation of at least 50 and had nothing to do at what level you are in.  Basically keep grinding your org mission of your choosing until you have at least 50 rep; then you could be able to get all the crit missions.

#36300408174 02/16/2008 13:50:57 Re:MxO Guide?

Apart from a few new things and a combat 'revamp', not much of the game's structure has changed since Beta.

There weren't many guides then, but we sure had fun working it all out as we went along!

#36300408175 02/16/2008 13:53:40 Re:MxO Guide?
See this for information on Reputation.

EDIT: also, if you have an org key, then yeah, it brings you into the White Hallways where you can get into an organization specific area. There are also 3 doors in the International District that get you into a different set of White Hallways.
#36300408209 02/16/2008 15:08:09 Re:MxO Guide?
mantra777: yeah i know. I guess i should have written "rep" in front of level...

MotorZ: i entered a door in international, i didn't have any key either.. *cough* couldn't find a way out other then getting killed by those elite commandoes.

That's a part of the Elite Commando Encounter, and consist of a separate set of White Halls (different from the Org Construct White Halls).
