I recently decided to give MXO a try, so I began playing last Friday on Recursion. I am an avid RPer and have played DAoC, AO, SW:G, WoW, and COX. So far, I am enjoying the experience, and I have a few comments/questions that perhaps some might help me with.
- I chose to join the Merovingians. Is the main form of Missions/Quests from the single contact I have (Flood)? I also know of the Collectors, but having come from the games mentioned above, I am not used to getting my Missions/Quests from just one person. It is also strange to me to only be able to work on one Mission at a time, and I have to complete it in order to move onto the next. No biggy if that is the case, but I didn't want to be missing another source for missions.
- Also, I have not tried teaming yet, but I am presuming we do not necessarily know another person's affiliation when we team. How does this work if people from different affiliations group?
- Do we get a notification of any kind when we sell an item on the Marketplace? I have sold a few things, but did not receive an email or other notice, so I am just assuming it sold alright, and I got the $I. Is there anyway to do a search for something particular on the Marketplace other than the obvious filters and arrangements presented? Like if I was looking for a particular bit of code or item, is there a way to just type in the name for a search?
- Sometimes (& generally quite often), the sound effects just stop. I can still here the music, but the sound effects are gone. Sometimes I can teleport or go into/out of the Loading Area to bring it back, but it seems that more often than not, there are no sound effects. I am playing with Vista, so I do not know if this is perhaps exclusive to that. I seem to have no other technical issues that I am aware of.
- Wooden Stakes, Holy Water, Silver Bullets. I have quite a few of these, and I even saw a few on the Marketplace for quite an exorbitant price. I am holding onto them, but I am not sure what they are for. I remember reading somewhere about Vampires, Werewolves, and Nightmares. Do I need to hang onto these for the eventual facing of such Exile Programs?
- I have chosen the fairly obvious route of Operative - Soldier - Martial Artist. Well, at least that is the plan. I am only Level 9, so I have not actually gotten there yet. How do the other "classes" play? Also, is the loadout concept done pretty well, or would it benefit me to just have different characters with different abilities if I were curious to try other things?
- And is there a listing or a way for me to check out Roleplaying Guilds on Recursion? I do not mind going it on my own for now as I learn things, but I would eventually like to be involved in RPing and an RP Guild/Faction.
