Since there isn't really one of these, I thought I'd start one. What goes here: Anything pertaining to the "Intruder" aka "Wireframe Man" which seems to be a huge turning point in the story. I also wanna use this thread for people to post in after an Intruder-related event happens and before we have to wait a day before a summary is posted. Also theories go here.

So, we know he can take over Machine programs and accelerate code while creating decelerated code (which may or may not be an intended goal). Apparently in the last event, he had an interest in Heart O the City hotel-- Is this true? Can anyone elaborate?

Post metadata was recovered from a search result, but the local source page did not include the post body.

I think too many people are stuck on the fan-idea that "The One" is a seperate entity which possessed Neo or something like that. Neo was The One. Neo was the anomaly. Or rather, the anomaly was expressed through him. I don't know where anyone is getting the idea that there is a "One" program that takes over a bluepill and sticks around after the person is dead, but it surely wasn't from the movies.
Neo did have to return to the Source, and we know that Exiles choose not to return, thus they are free to do as they wish within the Matrix. You'd think their creators would have a way to round them all up with ease. We also know that there have been six 'anomalies' and in the end Neo's purpose was to return to the Source, presumably to be re-assimilated into the System. So, if Neo chose to be a good boy and do as he was made to do, like the five before him, the One's code would be implanted onto another fateful bluepill in the next incarnation of the Matrix.

At least that's what I was thinking when I started typing, but, the term anomaly implies that the One is simply a natural occurence that chooses its own carrier.

As for The Intruder, I wouldn't mind him being some fragment of Smith. As baseless as that sounds.

But if Neo chose not to go to the Source, didn't that make him an Exile? Hahaha!
He did, perhaps unknowingly. He returned to 01 to seek peace defying his purpose, but giving the Machines his code back. He died in the process, but I'm guessing at some point all Ones die, but their code survives and is reinserted. I just watched the scene with the Architect and he pretty much states that the code (or perhaps soul) is put back into the system (a new body). And since the Matrix was rebooted maybe The Intruder is the anomaly 'unchecked', as Archie puts it. Not Neo himself, just his essence. Depending on your belief of reincarnation, the new being either retains its memories from its past life or it doesn't.

However, what if it was a program installed in Neo by the Oracle via her cookies....? There was a mission somewhere suggesting that the Oracle cookies contain some sort of code....
That the Oracle was the keeper of the anomaly and chooses to give it to whoever she sees fit? In that case it was inserted by Machines and Neo was a normal man before meeting her.

Knowing that Trinity would fall in love with Neo could be the reason she gave it to him. None of the previous Ones was ever in love, she saw Neo as a way to change the system. She could have very well given it to the bald kid.
