Ok I know the first movie is a few years old and i have seen all three plus the animatrix , and played enter the matrix. I have played this game on and off for two years and have read the comics (well some of them). This is a little embarrassing but I have a question that has been on my mind for a long time. Here goes....why do the operatives/agents/exiles wear sunglasses in the dark and indoors? I don't know if the W.bros ever answered it but it's always been nagging at me but I never said anything for fear of ridicule and embarrassment. Now I am too curious to give a *poop* , someone please tell me why!

In the first movie Neo makes a comment about his eyes hurting, Morpheus replies its because he's never used them before. This happened in the real world, whether that translates over into the Matrix, I'm not sure of.
From a movie-making point, the director of Underworld in the commentary of that film, made a big note to point out that the actors in The Matrix wore sunglasses so audiences wouldn't know that the actors had their eyes closed while firing their guns.

Speaking as someone who wears sunglasses at night, it has a profound effect on people, both in drawing attention and causing others to become ill at ease. Not only that, it's BADASS!
It's also to hide the faces of stuntmen during stunts.
