I'm sure many of you have probably read or seen this website before, but for those that haven't it gives a lot of detailed (and accurate, for the most part) assessments of what happens in the three movies and the meanings behind a lot of things. For die hard fans I think it's a must read. Feel free to debate on any of the topics on the website.
A very good source of information for those seeking clarity.
my only thoughts after review are of the Merovingian and the timeline between him and the Oracle.
The site states that the Merovingian came after the Oracle, and with good reason to believe so. infact, i find it to be more likely the way it was worded in his summary than to be the way i was previously believing to be true. getting to my point, i was under the Assumption that the Merovingian was not only a System Operator, but designed for studies of the human race before the creation of the Oracle, tying in with his deletion, and thus Exile. However, upon reading the information in this summary, it states that he was created after the Oracle. of-course this would make sense, due to his choice of words in the Matrix Revolutions while speaking with Trinity, Morpheus, and Seraph; my only, "on the fence," opinions, though, come from previous talk of this topic on these forums.
End Result: i'm very unclear on whether the Merovingian or the Oracle came first. thoughts?
Maybe both were created around the same time? I know the Oracle was supposed to understand the human concept of choice and how we come by the decisions we make (probably how she "stumbled" upon the solution) but reading from that site that was mentioned in this thread I get the feeling that the different programs were also there to examine the different aspects of the human psyche (I think it was mentioned there that Persephone was to examine the concept of "love" while the Merv was supposed to examine the less savory aspects of humanity).
I think maybe the reason why everyone would think the Oracle was older was because she is labeled as the "mother" of the Matrix. But it is possible she only garnered that moniker because she stumbled upon the solution (you know that could also explain the hatred the Merv has for the Oracle, I wouldn't be surprised if "jealousy" falls into the one of the many catagories the Merv was supposed to examine).

i could easily see that as being true, aswell. the Oracle only the Mother because she gives the Father a purpose. to balance the equation.
A fascinating read indeed. It makes points which I have had a fair idea of anyway, but it makes many, many more that are quite illuminating. I feel that anyone who watches the Trilogy, plays the games and reads the comics should be made aware of this site to allow them to at least attempt to answer their questions about it. The sheer depth of meaning throughout the idea of the Matrix is mind boggling and I don't think that anyone can say that they weren't confused at some points, but even if some people claim to have had a really good grasp of what was going on from the start, then I believe that they were only scratching the surface.
