At first, I was "Yay!"

But it's just another expansion pack, so then I went, "Oh."

But still, it's F.E.AR., so, "Yay!"

it kinda sucks how Monolith does not have the license of the "FEAR" name anymore, nevertheless I'm getting the sequel to FEAR called "Project Origin" and maybe Perseus Mandate...in 2 years from now when I get a new computer

Just finished the demo, and I was a little disappointed. The new enemy sounds too emotionless, and the scare tactics were recycled, minus your partner's introduction and the very last part of the demo where the demon suddenly grabs you and starts sucking you into the floor.

One of the new weapons introduced eliminates the need for a flashlight - when you aim through the scope, everything is lit up infrared. It's a rifle, too, so it will be used frequently.

The voice actor for Chen (your A.I. controlled partner) isn't very good - his voice is much too soft to swear that much.

Watch the footage in the demo's main screen...

There's new bad guys that crawl along walls, giant mechs, and new paranormal bad guys from the looks of it.

Perseus Mandate will be an expansion pack, but it's actually going to be a stand-alone expansion unlike Extraction Point. You don't need the original box to be able to play Perseus Mandate.

Project Origin will be the full-fledged sequel to the original.

The ninja guy... (the grenades are his)

Is an awesome upgrade of this guy...

The knife attack in the demo, while not overly terrifying, definitely made me jump.

But what I'm actually looking forward to is the new tricks Alma will throw at you, and how it would fit into the story, since in this expansion, you're not playing the Point Man from the previous games. It's an entirely different character, but with the same powers and ability to communicate with Alma, which confuses me a bit.

Here's a video that nobly introduces the grenade launcher, new standard soldier upgrades, new rifle, and, at the end, just what kind of things you're up against. Unfortunately, the idiot who made the video was looking in the wrong direction at the end and didn't catch the guy getting sucked into the floor by one of the ghosts. He also somehow managed to blow himself up before another ghost began pulling him through the floor.

Overall, the demo didn't utterly wet my fur, but I'll get the expansion for the gameplay. I hope by the release, they'll have fixed the rifle problem.

Rifle problem?

And I'm assuming that even though you're not playing the original Point Man, there is appears to be one "isolated clone" for every FEAR team. It would make sense that you're playing as a different super soldier.

The part where the new infrared scope rifle eliminates the need for a flashlight. If you can see past all the shadows by simply aiming at them, the scariness drops drastically.

Woot! I was waiting for this! The demo doesn't reveal that much of the story though...That's the main thing for me anyway.

lolnecro

I got this game a few days ago, and I'm quite pleased with it. They eliminated the infrared problem, and Alma definitely still knows how to kick your can in spooks.

The few parts where SFOD-D or your teammates would help you in the firefight were pretty cool.

Most awesome part of the game (there's two): Lieutenant Chen fights off the ghosts that killed Holiday in the other expansion pack all by himself, and when Agent Morris confronts Alma.

There's plenty of new weapons, like the grenade launcher and little laser beam rilfe thingy.

There's even some upgrades to old enemies, like ATC Security finally learn to put on some friggin' riot control gear.

The Nightcrawlers still sound a little stupid, though, but I'd recommend this game if you've forgotten about it. My only gripe is the Nightcrawler voice and that the same voice actor portrayed your team leader and Agent Morrison, which lead to a bit of confusion.
