I am not sure what the delay is about.  I would certainly image the Halloween Patch is complete as you guys are recycling last years content with the slight addition of 7 new masks.  Unless there is some surprise we don't know about, I simply don't understand why you can't flip the switch remotely or prematurely.

#36300342027 10/24/2007 06:42:57 Re:Halloween 2007

I would imagine that there is more to it than simply flipping a switch.

It's reasonable to assume that the Halloween updates are there too, but with the unavailability of the database and the staff being unable to get into work the best we can hope for is a short delay only.

perhaps

This is still frustrating nonetheless.

Yeah, we can wait for the update, or even forego it this year, so long as the devs and their families are safe and sound.

Hell, even if it has to wait until after Halloween, can't they just give us 2 weeks once everything settles down?  I mean, it's not like we have a Thanksgiving event. =/
#36300342488 10/24/2007 21:39:02 Re:Halloween 2007
Yeah, I'd like to see the Halloween event even if it comes after Halloween itself.

Agreed, its one of the best events of the year.
#36300342657 10/25/2007 07:41:10 Re:Halloween 2007
That's why they call it a "delay".
#36300342661 10/25/2007 07:48:45 Re:Halloween 2007
Mm, at this point, it looks like an indefinate delay. Pray and send up positive energy for rain on SoCal, folks. I'm in the Northeast and while we need the rain, I wish I could push *some* of it back to SoCal.
#36300342805 10/25/2007 11:59:16 Re:Halloween 2007

Most of all I hope all those people and evacuees are alright...and i hope those *CENSORED* fires stop raging   .... Halloween pwns face..and i hope we get the patch soon...but oh well...I'm more concerned with peeps and thier safety

Any more news on when we might see the update?

I'm sure when Rajinn and the rest of the team in San Diego aren't waiting on evacuation orders to leave their homes, or when they can return to work, you'll have more info and he will post it on DN1.

Right now it's just a waiting game.

#36300343197 10/26/2007 04:39:26 Re:Halloween 2007

last minute idea Its Not My Intent Too Be Disrespectfull too the Serious problems With The Cali Wild Fires... but can we have burning buildings for haloween :p possibly a mask of that beautifull code of "smith" in flames MASK

Hope Those People Who Did Loose there Homes Are Ok & Taken Care Of...

#36300343367 10/26/2007 10:45:55 Re:Halloween 2007
I'd say the Smith in Flames is definitely a possibility for a costume, and might even be one of the final 2 costumes for this year.

Is there an extension on the when the Halloween stuff will be removed?

#36300345066 10/29/2007 19:21:43 Re:Halloween 2007
Not as of now.
#36300345076 10/29/2007 19:48:36 Re:Halloween 2007
Oct. 30th - Nov. 8th is the planned time for the event.
#36300345188 10/30/2007 03:53:14 Re:Halloween 2007
Hmmm.. Typically I think the Halloween event drags on, but now I feel like I haven't gotten enough... er... or something like that.

No, If we did then every patch following it would be slightly off also. better to make just one a bit shorter and keep the regular Updates on schedule.
#36300345306 10/30/2007 08:02:28 Re:Halloween 2007
See, that's what I don't understand. Why does the regular patch schedule need to change if the event is prolonged? If you extend the event until update 56, you can remove the halloween stuff and update the game in one go.

I'm confused too... why can't we do this? SMILEY
#36300345423 10/30/2007 11:17:49 Re:Halloween 2007
I Really dont think its fair you guys cant give us an extension on the halloween event. I look forward too it all year.
#36300345533 10/30/2007 14:59:45 Re:Halloween 2007
Eeerm...You really think you need more than one and a half week to celebrate Halloween in-game? To get the masks? Everyone will think it's boring after like a week. No need to give us an extension.
#36300345588 10/30/2007 16:13:21 Re:Halloween 2007
Sounds like Halloween will be fun this year.

hmm  I wish we could whip up something like a trick/treat setup...where all mission doors (doors inside buildings that normally go to instanced missions) would function as a trick-or-treat door instead when there's no mission active.  When you "knock" on the door you'd get either a trick, or a treat.  Tricks are hoards of NPC enemies that pile out to attack you with a slim chance for some rare loot .  If you get a treat (rarer), then an bluepill NPC answers the door and walks out...you can right click, select "Get" and receive a treat (rare loot, or a mask, or maybe some cake).

I like this idea!

Heck, even something as simple as adding a "creak" sound to opening and closing doors would be a fun little touch. SMILEY

RL triple-bombed me this year, so I haven't seen much of the Halloween Event.  But I wanted to say how much I appreciate it--it's kind of fun to come in to something different.

Hey Paige--maybe your trick-or-treat idea could be done by tying the jack-o-lantern behavior to select doors.  I'm sure each district has certain exterior doors that are simply never used for missions and/or never function.  Don't know how you'd do the "treat" part, but it might make an easy way to do a "trick or treat" setup.

Hee, fine by me: it makes up for the delay due to the wildfires and it gives me more time to find a Tengu mask... And it makes it easier to schedule an event I've been planning for some time, but which I've decided to hold off on till the end of the Hallowe'en shenanigans.

It's probably too much strain to both remove an update and squeeze in another at once. The servers would be offline for much longer than usual, and might not even work properly afterwards.

How it's set up now, extended to two days before the Chapter Update, makes more sense and is a god send. :3 <3

I'm probably not the only one who hurried to get all the masks before the end of the Event and to find out about an extension at this late time is somewhat irritating.  That being said, it sounds like there are good reasons on your end and it also seems to be making a lot of people happy.  Just don't forget to update the MotD - we get enough confused new players running around as it is.  Thanks.

GOD DAMNIT!

Why in the holy name of god are you extending this already far to long drawn out event? Damnit, guess I'll push things back another week!

Wouldn't be so *CENSORED* bad if I could actually see the game I am trying to play!
