Simon Pegg?!

It's true.

And the new Sulu is Harold, of Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle.

Man, I dunno about this. Eric Bana as the villian sounds good....but Chris Pine as Kirk? Again, I really just don't know.

I don't remember the actors name but the guy who plays Psylar in Heroes is to play Spock.

Oh...Zachary Quinto.

Yeah, I was fine with that. He looks the part and seems to have the acting chops to pull it off. As well as the new Uhura  being Zoe Saldana.

These new ones are a bit out of left field. Add that to my general iffyness about the idea of a prequel movie, and I'm still very much on the fence about this flick.

I agree with imax.  They should've gone with Star Trek: Titan.  They're great books and would've made for great movies.  They could still do it, though Johnathan Frakes is starting to show his age.

Man, I really hope they don't screw this thing up.
Ah, another Star Trek lit fan. Yeah, Titan is a great series... and in fact all of the book "relaunches" have shown that these series, characters, etc. all had plenty of life left in them... but the folks behind the scenes just ran out of the ideas and talent to do something decent with them. The DS9 Relaunch series in particular is just fantastic. In fact, the books have also come out with several new crews and series that have done quite well and been successful and different. Why is Paramount so bankrupt for ideas that they need to recast and "reimagine" the original series and characters?

All that having been said, I hope it's good and I hope it's respectful and fits into the universe in a proper and coherant way. Mostly, I hope it doesn't suck. I've not left a theater so mad as I did when I left Nemesis and proceeded to tell the line outside how I felt, and to not waste their money.
