I just made a few showcase film clips showing off the Shadow moves, I tried to hide the UI but found that I couldn't activate any moves by pressing 1,2,3 etc.... even the - and = keys (which I have binded to some of my mouse buttons) wouldn't work. The Home key (to select nearest enemy) binded to my middle mouse button worked! Any guesses?
UI Funtionality whilst Hidden

This is one of the reasons many people, myself included, would like to at least be able to bind the tactics to the keyboard (or have them perma bound, as they were in CR1). You're quite right, Vinia, and it's not just you that has this problem. It would be extremely nice to be able to activate things on your hotbar via keypresses with the HUD is turned off.

Oh, so it is a known limitation then! I though it may have been a bug from the last update (the one about the chat box toggle). How dare I presume to think I'd spotted a bug!
How then do some people make these movies including fights etc.... with no UI showing?

They activate the hotbar item then quickly hide the GUI. Then they just trim the footage.
I've wanted this for a while too, but this topic really belongs in the development discussion areas.

Yeah... it's basically just something you have to get used to. Clicking or activating the thing you want, and then really quickly hiding the UI.

Anyways, yeah it's annoying. It's not only while making videos, I took many picture where I had only a narrow time window, so I had to press and hide the UI fast. These days I hope 9mmfu turns into Bob the Builder.
Can we fix it? Yes we can!

I agree.
Besides, my framerate runs better with UI turned off

I haven't tried it yet, but in theory you should be able to create a keyboard macro that can activate hotbar buttons if they're hidden right?

=( but the additional hotbar space would be sweet, nevertheless thanks for clearing up
