AWESOME Mission, Rarebit!!!!
Highlight for Spoiler
300 Mill humans don't add up to the energy to power 01, let alone the sentinels, other bots, defenses, the fields, the powerplant and the Matrix. So the Mechs must be getting thier power some other way other than human BTU's and fusion.
Keep in mind there was some confusion about fussion or fission. I didn't understand that all too well.
Basically, we can extract anyone we want and it won't stress the system. This places a serious question mark next to the Mech's motives in so many areas.
Ho boy, hope I can afford the charges if a call is in order...

Free IN minutes and no Long Distance!!!

:: Laughs out loud::
(It's especially funny for me since I'm on Verizon Fiber Optic Internet Service after years of dial-up.)

Or there's the other possibility...that the Merv just hasn't found everyone yet.

The General is trying to send a message through, but the signal is too weak!!
The General hologram appeared but it was so broken up only a few words came through =/ Flood just wished he would get deleted already, then had a plan to use Network Media (run by the Network, powerful broadcasting stuff in the Matrix!) to sort of boost the signal just enough to get the message, even if it might get the Machines' attention!! :O
Although there were some security to fight through, we were able to break into the computer and take over one of the communication things! The operator said it wasn't one anyone watches TV on so it should be ok
Flood said to hurry to get the General's message before the Machines get there.. but he wasn't sure if that would be a good thing or bad thing o.o
The General said they found another set of fields as big as the last, and he said the powerlines there were running away from them. Some of the rest was still broken up, and then some Machine programs attacked! Like... a bunch of them!! I was taken by surprise and tried to fight but didn't make it out
After reconstructing, Flood said to report the message to Merv and Malphas.
The operator cleared up what the General said about the power lines, that they were running away from the city.. so where were they going? Ookami was here too! Malphas says there's probably more fields to be discovered which would make more sense for the 300 million people estimated in the Matrix!! The General will be called back too, he said. They don't want to lose more sentinels checking out further
He also made a reference to people thinking they can travel anywhere in the world, even though 300 million people is not close to the number of people in the world, but Malphas didn't say anymore about it. Does this mean people can't travel anywhere? Malphas would know, wouldn't you think? The Merv says, 300 million people is barely enough to power all the Machines' stuff, so that could be why they have not been as effective against Zion, but they were effective the last time, so it doesn't make sense! He also says it still doesn't explain why they use humans for power if there are better choices! He also talked a little about the bleak real world and that we are lucky to have the Matrix
Flood isn't happy to hear about them calling the General back

I'm wondering if the Machines might also have used animals as batteries, the way they did with humans. I remember someone once half-jokingly suggested it would have been wiser if the Machines had used cows instead of humans, since cows are easier to contain, and since their intelligence is way below that of a human, the Machines wouldn't have to create a simulated world to keep them from going nuts. Think of the monkey/lemur with jacks in "The Animatrix: Matriculated".
Okay, if that's the case, I'm tempted to run a bit in which Sieges's brother Awakens his cat...
Long Distance
Flood: The General has been trying to contact us, operative, but his signal is so erratic that it's been difficult to track down. Our Technicians think they've managed to locate it at last. Hurry up and try to contact it.
Operator: Something tells me the General's getting himself into more trouble out there. All right, that's the spot. I can see some kind of signal in there, but it's really weak.
Operator: Hm... try in there.
Operator: There it is!
Holographic Projection: ...scouts...another....miles...ceased...the...nearby. ... time...one...scanned...dead...only...Machine...
Operator: Well great, I can't make anything out of that. What are we gonna tell Flood?
Flood: Why, why can't he simply get himself deleted? Is that so much to ask? All right, operative. It's clear that the low-power transceiver we're using to communicate with the General without being detected by the Machines cannot handle communication at the range the General has reached in his pod-scouting venture. There's nothing for it but to upgrade temporarily , even though it may bring the wrath of the Machines down upon our--well, your--head. Network Media runs the most powerful transceiver equipment in the city. We know that their CEO, the Network, does work for the Machines, and has equipment capable of communicating with them directly. I'm sure he won't mind if we repurpose one of his special communication arrays momentarily.
Operator: That's a Network Media broadcasting facility. You need to find a terminal that you can use to hijack their communication equipment. I'm picking up some of their security team members in there, so keep an eye out.
Operator: An access key... That could come in handy.
Corporate Security Sergeant: Freeze, scumbag!
Operator: Hm... Looks like a multi-part security access system there. You'll need two different access keys to get to the terminal we need.
Operator: All right, now you just need a key for the other security terminal.
Operator: Nice. It looks like you can access the third terminal now.
Operator: That should have us plugged through his array now. I'm sure he won't mind too much; it's not like any of his subscribers watch TV over that one. He may miss out on some special chat time with Deus Ex Machina or whoever, but hey, these little inconveniences are what add spice to life, right?
