Spies are going to get rocked once theirs hit.
It takes about two months for them to come out with an update just for one class. 9 classes, 2 which have been done so.. 7, that's 14 months, a little over a year to come out with all that. I don't think people are willing to wait an entire year without content.

You know basic math, good job.

That sucks on their part, the achievements and unlocks should have been ready to go at launch. Nothing we can do about that now, but still, maybe they should have decided against catering to the "gimmie nao" crowd and make us wait for something a little more complete and balanced.

LOL Ele that's jokes! I want a scout or sniper upgrade next but I have to say that does look hilarious. The pyro update has been annoying I will grant you, Pyro and Medic, 2 of the classes I use the least but I guess I just gotta wait my turn.

Traditionally, Team Fortress was based off realism like Counter Strike. Realistic Weapons, People, armor, etc. or at least tried to seem realistic. The problem is, Sentry Guns and killing people in the back instantly with a knife really doesn't seem realistic. They went off an earlier era, (I think 50's or 60's) back during the Spy trend. James Bond was very big back then, the Cold War made the spy vs. spy thing very prevalent. I think in the end, the fact that they made things look a lot less realistic while not off the charts trippin' balls unrealistic was a good choice. Besides, the game is made up of different classes that all excel in different situations so they're made to look vastly different from each other. It's so when you see that differential figure you know what to expect, what they're using, what their tactics are, and how you can beat them or if it's better to just run away. The artist/graphic designers made the characters in a sort of animated Pixar type way, because if I remeber correctly that's who they used, and wanted the design to be. The game isn't super-serious, super realistic, terrorists jumping out of windows hoping the C4 at Bombsite B is about to go off etc. like say, CoD4.

That doesn't mean the game is horrible though. I would know, because generally now I look at games and judge them more on quality than I do gameplay. I mean, take Crysis for example. It has from what I can tell the best graphics of any game that's been created thus far, rivaled by BioShock and few other games that are coming out soon. But I only played Crysis for like 2-3 days before I never played it again because the gameplay wasn't really that replayable. You have to look at games for re-play value. (Also one good reason why I'm definitely looking forward to L4D). Take Counter Strike, the first one, 1.6. That game has been out for over 10 years and people still play it because it's a good game. It looks like *poop* compared to the present, but people still play it. I've had Team Fortress 2 for over like 5 months. I still play it because it's fun, although repetitive I take breaks from the game when it does get boring.

All in all, don't judge a book by its cover. It works both ways.

Games are losing their playabiltiy because game producers think looks are more important that the actual gameplay.  Its the way things are going now unfortunately.......  there is no entertainment in a massive amount of games that have been released recently

Not necessarily. But I guarantee you that the people who put out those video cards will latch onto game producers (COUGH EA COUGH) and pressure them to push out games as fast as possible. That's another reason why you see the same Sports game, every year, with a few new features, and slightly better graphics. It's a way to make money.

Valve on the other-hand has been noted for generally being slow with the creation of their products, understandably. Sure they can make a *CENSORED* game, which is rare, but they arn't rushed like EA. "It's done when it's done." and that's why they make decent games that people play.

I also have to completely disagree with your last statement, because honestly it sounds like you just don't like PC games, or if that extends to Video games as well, then that too.

Actually, I believe the Orange Box was the first of all Valve games to even include achievements, and it was just experimental. Due to positive feedback about the achievements, and probably a nod to the success of Achievements from the Xbox, they decided to make more, and along with that new content for each class. When you make a game, you don't say, "Alright, we'll make the basic game, then we'll add more onto that, and then more onto that, etc." because then people will play for like a month, and then you have no more content to offer them because you wasted it all on the release. Releasing new content, like, surprise surprise, MxO on a loosely based schedule, people are usually drawn back to experience new content.

That's also why you see these "free-weekends" pop up around the release date of these free-content patches. To draw more people into the game.

It would be nice to have everything at once, but from a realistic and economical view, drawing everything out means more new potential customers, which means more money.

Everyone wants it, everyone needs it.

Yeah, and it's because of fools who think graphics are everything. They spend too much time developing the game to look pretty, but not enough time on coming up with fun, new concepts (which grow rarer every year). Games to be good just take too long to publish now. They just spit out something JUST GOOD ENOUGH that some people will buy it, with the least amount of development time possible. There's less and less great, very enjoyable games. Same with the movie industry kinda. Lack of new ideas, obsession with making everything look pretty.

Think, games that come out during the release of a highly-anticipated movie. They usually always suck, and there's a good reason for that.

Mm. The Iron Man game, I think, has hit an all-time low in the history of blockbuster games. You're absolutely right about gaming these days, with few exceptions (The Star Wars, Ep III game held its own: It wasn't magnificent, but it kept you playing. Then again, they were making that months before the game even came out). The market is, unfortunately, saturated by companies who aren't devoted to gaming (Nintendo, Atari, Capcom etc.) and are full of companies looking to make money by branching into gaming, and they're not making any money so long as they rush games out in about 2 months. The main problem is, you can't make good games quickly, but you sure as *poop* can make bad games fast. So you have to search for the good games through the piles of crap ones.

...But to tie this all in: Games with good graphics and loud noises aren't always the best. Although TF2 has pretty sweet graphics, it's the gameplay that trumps everything else in that game, and should for any game, to be honest. Just like Flecky said.

Free. SMILEY Just bear in mind that Valve have something of a zero-tolerance policy to cheating. I don't know if they're very good at detecting cheating, but if they do they'll ban your account and you won't be able to access any of your Steam games.

I bought TF 2 a few days ago and love it. Definitely love scout, spend half my time kiting 3-4 people around trying to kill me while the rest of my team actually goes about winning the map againist a significantly outnumbered opposition. Either that or medic cause basically no one goes medic so I have to. I don't think Pyro's are that OP, sure they can ambush you around a corner but a knowledgeable team will just get a demoman to fire a pack of grenades around the corners on payload maps.

Speaking of Demomen I really am suspicious of them, I think the blast radius of the sticky bombs is way too big, half the time my character will spontaneously explode into little bits without me hearing an explotion or seeing one, then it'll zoom halfway across the map to the demoman who killed me.
If you are reading this my sig didn't work T_T

The next class pack will be the Scout. One of the main goals we're focusing on for him has been to provide tools that make him useful in maps like Dustbowl & Goldrush. If you have any ideas for what you think would work well, post them over on the Team Fortress 2 Forum and we'll take a look.

No spy change XD. Wow a few lage sum of players must be p/oed.

We're also working on bringing over a variety of engine improvements from Left 4 Dead into the TF2 engine, but it won't be a wholesale replacement of the engine. This means we'll get some of L4D's performance improvements, like the better multicore support, but not all of them. For example, we can't bring over some improvements without dropping support for DX8, which we're not prepared to do.

Just do it for christ sake. People should have Dx9 c or 10 now if they even want to play a MMO or A mere PC Game. If your using Dx8 you must be using 95 supped up still. Cause right now. I do want this right here XD. Well mostly the multi-core support.

Spies do now have the ability to recharge their cloak by picking up ammo (or just sitting around the new monster of a dispenser of Engineers), which is pretty big to me.

I kinda like how they're sticking to the old school stuff. Keeps from forcing people to upgrade their computers just to keep playing their games; I've always had a thing for companies that focus on people being able to play before going in for the artsy stuff.

THANK YOU AVALOD, YOUR OPINION JUST MAKES THE ALMIGHTY FOUNTAIN OF WISDOM FLOW ITS GLUTTONOUS JUICE ALL OVER YOUR POST IT MAKES ME WANT TO GOUGE OUT MY OWN EYES FOR BEING SO MUNDANE IN YOUR AWESOME PRECENSE.

Also, Spy will be next since they're going by classes least played. It was either going to be Scout or Spy this next update since they were neck-and-neck on the class list for least played. Last I checked the list was Scout at the lowest, followed very slightly behind by the Spy. Engineers will be last of course, but they're a bunch of F#%!%!s anyways.
