I would still level up all my defenses only because once you capped at lvl 50 you will need to switch defenses at a drop of a dime when you get involved in PvP (Player Vs Player). although what the others have said is true but eventually you will need to level all your Hypers why not do it from the beggining and don't stick to one style  what I did in the very beggining  is leveled up all my gunman, martial arts, Master knife thrower, hacker  ect, and by the time i was level 50 i could switch styles with out worrying about leveling them up ..
