I'm currently working on a story to entertain myself (Nerd alert! Best part is I don't have to pay 15 bucks a month to write it =p), which details Alec breaking into Blackwood to rescue a friend. As I thought upon the features of fighting through a dark Merovingian prison, Pandora's Box popped into my head, followed by the Oracle's little speech concerning Exiles.

How fantastical can I get with Exile shells before it becomes unbelievable? I've compiled a list of types of monsters that Exiles might take the form of, but I come to other avid Matrix fans for suggestions on how far-fetched I can get before Anome swings on set with spiderwebs shooting from his wrists.

Blackwood Prisoner List

  • Dragon(s)
  • Gnomes (Travelocity, humour based [think "for the swarm!"])
  • Minotaurs
  • Griffins
  • Pandora's Box Enemies
  • Phoenix
  • Zombies
  • Living Skeleton
  • Ogre
Blackwood Guard List

  • Ogre
  • Sprites (Those d*mn evil fairy things!)
  • Nightmares, Succubi, Blood Drinkers, etc.
  • Prison Guard Captain (???)
That's another question. For a main antagonist for the Blackwood chapter, I'm going to use a Guard Captain. Or Ookami. What should the Captain be (or should I use Ookami)?

Obviously, what with my subscription ending... oh, wow, tomorrow, look at that... Contact me on Xfire or via email, zippythesquirrel / [email protected] respectively, or continue to use this thread. I'll check up on it every once in a new moon.

There's a character in "The Path of Neo" called the Witch, who appears to be some sort of enchantress, and I think there's a swarm of ant-men you have to fight through. I would think just about any sort of mythical creature would be possible among the Exiles, since the first two Matrices (Matrixes? Danged Latin correspondence course...) were more fantastical: the first being an almost-fairy tale like world (something like Arcadia in Greek mythology) and the second being the exact opposite, ie. a hellish place full of monsters.

For the prison guard captain? Hm... I'm guessing something that would make WGAnubis's Marrith look cuddly. Maybe something along the lines of a Balrog (the fire-demon thing in Lord of the Rings).

Don't forget the Dobermen, Caine, Abel, and Cujo.

You could always use a lich for the Guard Captain: a bona fide undead wizard.

The Ant-man model from PoN, mapped on to the player... "Mr Anterson..."

Aliens work too. The Oracle mentions it in passing in Debir Court during Reloaded but I've yet to see any aliens. Unless they're supposed to be the Ethereals but, if that's the case, that's kind of lame.

Weren't those the same as lupines? Note the use of the silver bullet in the movies.

It's funny, I wrote a chapter on Blackwood not so long ago, her crewmate gets banished there so she must take her crew in to rescue them.  It's so much fun, because the kind of things you can include really have no limit, good and bad;

All of the Pandora NPCs (Seraphic agents, men in white coats etc),
Army of undead, )
A Fire dragons/Chimeara,
Giant Scorpians,
Giant Spider,
Trolls/Ogres,
A witch, half scorpian-half human, (She was the guard of the giant scorpians)
Unicorns,
Fairy-Queen, (This allowed me to write a sort of wizards battle, quite nerdy but hah :P )
Fire demon, (Like a few posts above, I took the idea from the Baelrog, a demon covered in fire that wields a giant whip)
Phoenix birds.

I set the blackwood up like an island, placed the person to rescue in the centre and worked inwards from there. ;)

The Dobermen are lower-level Lupines who have yet to achieve the level of power and influence that mid to upper level Lupines possess. They are noted for their werewolf-like features and appearance. Like all Lupines, Dobermen possess incredible physical resilience towards damage, shrugging off most firearms and injuries as if they were nothing.

Their fighting style is similar to Hung Gar, with a few exceptions, adding in moves that are tailored after their bestial nature. Like Vamps, they can be put down by stakes and crossbow bolts, and silver harms them a great deal and is part of their Killcode.

Lupines is the term used for older, more powerful Dobermen. They are what Dobermen seek to be. Lupines Supposedly possess within their foundation code, the ability to transform their RSI and all of their abilities and powers tied into that form into a huge hulking wolf-man hybrid form. While this has yet to be seen, Lupines have on occasion, manifested very long and sharp claws, which are an extension of the RSI, and another ability tied into their Foundation Code.

And let's not forget the gang that everyone forgets...

The Cueballs.

(If you don't get it, see Coat Check Chaos)

Also, there's Cerberus... (The Guard to Club Hel.  Three Identical Bald Guys? Guarding Hel? Coincidence? I doubt it.)

I miss Gas Mask Guy. If there were gas masks in game, everyone would be wearing those instead of bandanas.

Very in-depth, Chem, thanks. :3 I'll make a note of it and see if there's a way I can squeeze them in(term used lightly), although, because of the nature of the Prison chapter (rescuing a Dire Lupine with the help of Lupines), I doubt I'll be able to use very many enemies out of them.

Also, gas mask guy for the win. :D

I'd stay away from non-humanoid stuff, it gets silly and takes you out of the Matrix.  Imagine if they were to escape.  Then imagine if your in a Goth club and its really dark.  Would your head explode if you saw a Blooddrinker?  Probably not.  What if you saw a Leprechaun or a Minotaur?  Probably.  Think of the Bluepills!  The Merovingian probably wouldn't allow exiles that wouldn't somewhat blend in this iteration.  Think of all the heat he'd bring down on himself from the Machines.

Loved the Witch from PoN, btw.

Who says Minotaurs look like Minotaurs anymore? Cerberus is now represented by three bald men, and Gargoyle is just a big tattooed guy... Minotaurs might just be Really big, Really hairy guys with nose piercings and liberty-spike hairdos.

I think The Merovingian should invest in a fleet of GIANT BLACK DRAGONS!

And they randomly attack the most populated places in The Matrix. Everyone would love to fight a giant black dragon.

But seriously, maybe homeless people... who get involved in a life of crime...

perhaps Mafia Exiles?

More Hired Thugs around the city would be cool.

Crackheads.

The Matrix needs crackheads.

Did you even read Zippy's post? This isn't Development.  It's Character Development.

If it is a reply, it is not spam.

(Brining this back on topic - which my original post was)

But for a humanoid character, you could play around with the idea of an Ent. Seriously.

He's right.

And technically none of the Exiles that were in the Merovingian's club or in the Chateau were all that different from human. The Twins were the only ones that really exhibited some power outside of enhanced speed and/or strength. I think that the Path of Neo did fairly well to maintain that trend, with the exception of the altered ending - though I understand why the decision was made.

If I were you, I'd stick to more of the stuff we've already seen, though I'm sure you can make it sound interesting. Or throw in your own special twist. I wouldn't have a unicorn Exile, though, as an actual unicorn. It'd be kinda' weak, imo.
#36300334501 10/07/2007 15:23:43 Re:Exiles beyond the vampires, werewolves, etc.
unless you literally went back to ookami's iteration it would get to weird if you went to indepth to some of them especially if they can't pass as sub human, maybe if there in like a jail you run past but more would get real fantasy like.
#36300334674 10/08/2007 00:14:15 Re:Exiles beyond the vampires, werewolves, etc.
I think a dragon would be pretty cool to see in an adapted form to the current Itteration. possibly a really tall, really big guy from the Orient with tattoo's of flame and dragon's covering his entire body would be pretty representative of that creature. possibly enhanced with the extra-ordinary amounts of strength, and show's imense speed an agility. maybe equiped with two wrist blades and a string of HE gernades?

also a flamethrower, hehe or a spray can with a zippo, those blackwood stories sounds interesting, i would like to read them.

oh and you know if the exilesyou find are prisioners of blackwood, i think they could take any shape they want, if theygoto the matrix is when they have to take a human form, remember the ants of PoN, and the training contructs

Just toss some Chupacabras in there and we got a party. hehe
