Hey you lot, I just thought I'd bring this up here whilst I remembered. The Joshua Foundation is a charity fund for children with terminal cancer - The Oz Experience is an extension of that.  Basically, you raise £2500 (or more) and half of that money goes to the charity and half pays for your trip to Australia where you do conservation work and visit children with Terminal Cancer for, I think, 2 weeks. I first heard about this when we were given a speech by a woman called Sarah Cornelius at my school who talked about a boy called Joshua who had a pretty good life going for him, until he got terminal cancer. She then revealed a little later in the presentation that she was actually Joshua's mother, and I have to tell you it hits you hard when you hear something like that. A woman who has had to deal with that and yet still is such a strong character is so inspiring. Out of a group of I think 100 students, who were present at this presentation, only two people decided to partake in the fund raising of this charity; myself and my friend Tim and we've decided to work together to raise the money as a team which would essentially be £5000. Here is something from the website:

The Joshua Foundation (TJF) was created in September 1998 to provide holidays and experiences for children and their families where the child is diagnosed with terminal cancer. The Joshua Foundation was launched on September 27th 1998 with a 5 kilometre fun/walk that raised £16,000, and on January 17th 1999, a huge party at Planet Hollywood, London, saw the first gathering of children and the beginning of "TJF Experiences". Whereas other wish organisations provide one-off experiences, the Joshua Foundation effectively 'adopts' children and their families providing them with on-going experiences and memories.

If you wish to read about Sarah's story then you can read about it here. I warn you, it's a little bit heart-wrenching though.

I'm posting here now because of a fund-raising event I'm doing on this Sunday in the UK. This Sunday (the 26th) Myself and Tim who I mentioned earlier, will be doing a bucket collection at the Leicester Forest East Motor Way Service Station - Southbound. Both myself and Tim will be there from 8am-Midnight, doing collections; yes it's going to be a long day/night but we know it's going to raise money and that's why we're doing it. I bring this to your attention so if you live near there or drive by there on your way to work or whatever perhaps you could give a little something. Even if it's just keeping me entertained for 5 minutes while I stand there SMILEY<img src=

I hope you at least take the time to read about The Joshua Foundation because I believe it's a truly amazing charity. I'll list website links here, although if you want more information you can just ask SMILEY<img src=

Taken from the site:

A one off donation...

Send a donation to the foundation. As of April 2000 all donations qualify for tax incentives under the Gift Aid Scheme. This will increase the value of your gift by nearly a third at no extra cost to you so if you are a tax payer and would like to make a donation then please complete the gift aid declaration form and return it to us.

Doing this will increase your donation by 28p for every £1 donated.''

How do I Gift Aid my donation?

All you have to do is download the Gift Aid declaration form from this page and then send it with your donation or with reference to your donation to our address:

The Joshua Foundation
13A Station Road
Llanishen
Cardiff
CF14 5LS

Hope that helps, or am I missing something like I usually do lol SMILEY

Ok, update.

You can now, if you wish, make donations to my paypal account at the email address:

[email protected]

I must ask that you do not donate anything over £10. Havo has already donated £15 and I was a little hesitant to accept that, but him being him, insisted.

Thanks guys, you really are the greatest gaming community ever.

Hey guys, just as an update, my buddy counted up the money that we collected at the service station and it turned out at £115.60 or thereabouts for about 6-7 hours of standing and repeating:

"Care to make a donation to the Joshua Foundation?"

It was well worth it though, those of you who've done charity collections will know how good it feels to know that you're helping; may sound selfish, but it's not, really. SMILEY

For those of you that donated, thank you very much! SMILEY Due to the way paypal works, there's been some reduction on what you've donated, but that total that's come to at present is:

£77.16

That's absolutely fantastic, it's very much appreciated SMILEY Thank you so much!

The collections of both these are going to be handed in tomorrow along with some extra we collected previously, hopefully this should help us make our next deadline of £500 (that's each, so really £1000). We're planning an event that will take place at my school soon, hopefully; and if I'm right it'll probably be something to do with Magic and Mentalism (yeah, Draggy's a magic geek lulz SMILEY)

Once again, thank you all for your support! I'll keep you updated SMILEY
