Whats up with the Ashencourte and Widows Moor construct drops?

My last run to WM a couple weeks back netted me 8 males/9 females (varying stability/purity). Still, there were periods where I would get more fem than male (my char was male, fyi), but overall it balanced well.
i spent about 3 hours in widdows moor tryin to get the cap (male version). came up with 2 females and then luckly traded a female for a male.
I'm doing Widows Moor at the mo and so far have got three male glasses, three female and about 5 female hats, three male...one which i swapped to some guy looking all sad and disillusioned he hadn't found a male one yet...now what was his name again?
