Attack us and we will defend ourselves.

Agents are not invincible.

Neo taught us that.

It is not Zion that broke the truce.

We did nothing but build a new, safer, home in an area nobody uses.

This is merely an excuse for the Machine to break it's word to Neo.

Perhaps the machines will be good enough to stash your bodies with your dead messiah for a happy reunion?

The talk of clearing the skies was to Zampano, thank you very much.

As for a war fought in the real, I assure you that Zion will make you pay for every last inch of tunnel, fight you to the last man and should we die, live sound in the knowledge that more redpills will find their way out and carry on the struggle. Who knows, we may yet win a war in the real, we have larger numbers than ever before, more ships, more training and our resolve has never been stronger.

Where have the Machines trusted or co-operated with Zion... did I ever say they trusted you.  No.  On the other hand they have proven trustworthy time and again.

To your second comment, you don't want it replied to by those frequenting this channel send a private message.

And lastly War.  You seem to crave it desperately while the Machines still seem to be struggling for peace.  If it comes to war how do you think the Machines will "pay"?  Sentinels are built to fight, be destroyed and be replaced, it is their purpose.  Nothing gives them greater pleasure.  People are not the same, every loss is a mother, father, sister, brother, son, daughter or friend.  Are you willing to trade them for every last inch of tunnel?

Redpills never have found their way out alone.  They have been let out (7 male 16 female) and allowed out (awakenings), in a situation like that there is no out with the exception of those few who self-substantiate and drown when there are no Zionites left to collect them.  Live sound in the knowledge that freedom and quite possibly 1% of humanity for the rest of time will die with you.

You seek only victory, once again needing to assert your dominance.  You haven't come very far from the cave dwelling monkies you so resemble.  There can be no victory.  Destroy 01 and you wipe out almost all of humanity and the survivors will tear themselves apart fighting over the scant few resources of this world because supremacy is all they know to fight for. That is if there are survivors.  01 is not the only Machine city.  They own this world.  Their numbers are beyond your imagining and their technology beyond anything you have seen thus far.  You think sentinels are all they have?

There can be no victory but peace.  But first their must be trust and this situation, and voices such as yours, have set us back years.

The Machine is struggling for peace?

Interesting. Wrong.. but interesting.

You make many many assumptions. Assumptions can be dangerous.

You speak as if we are the ones attacking when in fact it is the Machine that is moving to attack us. Is actually already attacking us within the simulation.

Crawl back into your pod... oh wait.. that's right.. reinsertion is not an option. Gee. Guess the Machine lied to it's own group called the Cypherites. Are writing over redpills an act of .. friendship? I think not.

All that hostility...telling us how we can't defend ourselves... threats... propoganda about how the Machine is struggling for peace...

It's kind of sad really.

We do not seek victory.. we seek Freedom. Freedom to live without the guns of half a million sentinals pointed at our heads. Freedom to make our own choices. One of those choices was to find a place we can defend ourselves.

We choose to live free.. not as hostages. Just like the Machine did when it was Humanity that dominated them.

Oh ho... and there we have it ladies and gentlemen... the moral of the story... the Machine is not better than humanity. The Machine is far more 'human' than it is willing to admit.

They do view humanity as inherently superior to any other form of life.

Red supremacists most of them.

I usually don't respond to point by point dissections of my speeches since I consider them a bit rude. But ... here's a couple bits from a recent meeting Agent Gray had. I find the bit about the Cypherites rather interesting. Not that I didn't already know the Cypherites answer to the Machine years ago but it's nice to have a bit of proof.

*presses play on the tape recorder*

Agent Gray: All armed Zionite hovercraft should be treated as hostile units.

Agent Gray: In the past, the city was repopulated following a reset of the simulation. A vital factor contributing to such a reset no longer exists. Therefore, the old system of re-establishing the city of Zion is no longer valid, and may not be necessary.

Agent Gray: We currently have an agreement with the Cypherites under which they are allowed to continue operating under their own direction.

Agent Gray: We are currently moving to nullify Zion's ability to inflict harm within the System.

Agent Gray: Zion's new city will be dealt with as it merits.

Agent Gray: Zion has in the past attempted to destroy the Matrix. This activity was halted by threat of destruction from our Sentinel fleet.

Agent Gray: This is a clear and present threat, and will be dealt with as such.

The truce is over, attacking armed craft is pure common sense.  We are at war.  It doesn't mean the Machines intend to go straight for the kill, though as you point out since Neo and the prime source code required to reset the Matrix are no longer available Zion no longer retains it's original purpose.  It would appear that despite this the Machines are not out for the kill as EPN and a sizable number Zionite red-pills are, they seek to "nullify Zion's ability to inflict harm within the System."  If it is necessary to destroy New Zion, or even Old Zion in the interests of the security of Machine civilization and the humans relying upon it then steps will of course be taken.

Without purpose the only reasons for Zion to be kept intact were honoring the agreement with the One and the hope for peace.  However survival ranks way ahead of peace, the statements on your recording were made after the intent of certain persons to destroy the System were made clear.  As you can imagine groups of humans planning to wipe out Machine civilization has halted the peace process and placed the Machines in an aggressive stance.

Personally I would have it no other way.  Though I believe in peace I'm not willing to see a drawn out war and the damage it will cause to both sides.  If Zion officially sides with EPN then I am in favor of retaliation for the sake of the safety of the blue-pill population, the System in general (and by-proxy the Exiles), Machine civilization, Machine operatives, and myself.

However until such time as Zions intents are made clear no order has been given to engage beyond ships of war outside of Zion territory and Zion operatives within the simulation.  Both are sensible precautions until the Machines are aware of what level of threat is posed by Zion in these new and troubling times.
