K, theres a couple of things i just wanted to ask about withdraw

  1. Why is it sometimes it'll try to withdraw once then return to ya normal tactic combat and others it'll try continually try like the description says it should?
  2. Why doesnt it have the normal ability animations? Like the red number with success or failure? I mean, thats what its doing, trying to get the 'withdraw' ability to go through. It should have the animations for clarification.

All we get are system messages saying we've failed to withdraw.  Sometimes, those messages only start appearing two to three rounds after we've clicked the button.  And what's more, the moment you withdraw, you're automatically put on speed tactics.

This wouldn't be such a problem if your opponent couldn't free fire immediately after you roll out, but he can - and speed gives you the lowest defense possible.  The moment interlock ends after you've rolled, your tactics switch to speed and your opponent's free fire activates (without him clicking anything, by the way.  The free fire just happens if you had it activated before you interlocked someone), which means you just got shot 99% of the time.  And if you're trying to roll because you're low on health, that's usually a deathblow.

My problem with this is it hardly ever works and you can't do jack but get pummeled while you wait.  If it does go through it's either a miracle or I've already been killed.

The withdraw messages won't show up if the opponent spams his abilities upon you. It often overwrites withdraw and even REMOVES withdaw tactic, putting you on speed inside IL without having withdrawed. There's also a withdraw bug within abilities and at the very beginning of a IL fight. If you start an IL fight and the opponent is fast enough and has withdraw pressed before the first roll, the chance is high that he/she will withdraw without any damage done to him. Also if you get powerlessed/stunned/etc while executing a withdraw ability (sideback roll, riflebutt-smash, etc.) BEFORE the damage is applied (means before the damage phase, which also applies the debuffs, withdraw is classified as debuff here) withdraw will still be applied and you can roll out while not doing damage.

Dang, withdraw is more messed up than i thought xD

The speed tactic thing is definate regular annoyance.

Chop this up as another fudemental flaw, eh?

LARGE CAPITAL LETTERS CATCHES YOUR ATTENTION:

WITHDRAW IS CANCELLED WHEN ENEMY USES ABILITY.
#36300292375 07/27/2007 02:26:34 Re:Withdraw

Sometimes when I use Withdraw it leaves me in Block Tactics >_<

I spam abilities and wonder why I am not attacking as none of the Tactic buttons are flashing then on the system box (which I rarely look at in combat) it says I cant use it in block tatctics.

Darkhawk's Gallery | Section 9's Past | Metal Gear?! It's already active?!
There can only be room for one Snake, and one Big Boss!

Withdraw is a tactic not a special thats why it doesn't show the red flash or green circle

In the case of making it work just spam the button, always works for me.

I was under the impression it was a tactic.

Even spamming it won't work 100%. I tried that multiple times when trying to escape from an Interlocking agent, or even spamming it when I needed to. Withdraw system is just *CENSORED* period.

I will point out that it won't work 24/7 like the old combat system due to it being a roll, your contested withdraw roll has to be higher than the attacking roll of your opponent.

I don't actually think it is a tactic in the traditional sense because all tactics really are are self buffs that change a couple of other variables as well, withdraw on the other hand has no buffs (see mouse over), is trying to acheive a specific action every round ala an 'attack' (that may well only be attachable to abilities) and fails to have the scanline effect like the other tactics/buffs.

I think it's just an inherent ability that is programmed (or not as it seems to be) attempt everytime while it's 'active'.

But yeah, what it is is irrelevant, its the fact its so horribly broken which is important.

Broken? Nah. Designed bad? Oh, yeah, without a doubt. However, between you and me, I'd rather have this then people always rolling out in CR1.0. That was just ridiculous. Hackers would *never* die for a martial artist, for the most part.

Hackers are meant to have a higher withdraw bonus, seeing as it's in their passive abilities.

Withdraw needs a fix, I've noticed this now being a hacker. I roll out more as a coder than I do a hacker.
