Is there any evidence of this?  I'm not trying to be contrary, but that sounds very alarmist.

Things aren't so bad over at MxO HQ that they can lose all characters in a single day. SMILEY

I have to agree.  I refuse to believe that 'hardware failure' = total character wipe.  If I'm wrong, I'm wrong but I'm sure it's not that dire yet.

 This may be the weekday Managed hosting provider inside me talking, however this lack of updated information on what we in the business call a "critical incident" is quite disheartening.

I understand that we have no SLA (Service Level Agreement) with SOE, however we are all paying customers and would like (and deserve) an update of status. I am not expecting an immediate fix, I just would like to know the status of a subscribed service that is currently not available.

 SOE maybe you should send ur MODS to a customer service class before they work for you. Never in my life have i had horrible CUSTOMER SERVICE like i do here. So if what if we are on furoms posting. Spamming or whatever. Untill someone cries Foul then let it be. Remember the The next time you dont get Good CUSTOMER SERVICE, how you guys treated us during this time. KARMA ITS FOR EVERYONE.
