Raijinn-
Personally, I would like think you have the potential to be a greater traifficker of info than Walrus. Walrus is involved a lot more with development, tied up most of the time, so i'd imagine you have a little more free time on your hands. All of the idea's and concerns here by players aren't personal attacks - they are frustrated voices that have been dying to be heard for a very long time. I would pretty much expect you to be heralded as the saviour of MxO if you took most of the idea's we suggested on board and dealt with them exclusively, with either two statements such as 'Im not prepared to comment on that' or, 'Yes, I can talk about this'. I'll digress and explain...
We NEVER get real answers from SOE staff - or we do - but these are answers that edit a question into segments and then answer some segments and ignore the rest of the post in a whole - which is why a lot of people vent anger. The 'other side' articles were something we could latch onto, feeling that there was actually a direction for our dearly loved game to head in - away from the direct influence of Devs saying 'YES' or 'NO' on issues like 'can we have this in game, can we have that'. They were prime examples of work that was going on in-game and out-of-game to highlight the way in which our game was competing against all the others out there, winning over them every time, scoring more points for a truly die-hard and mega-dedicated fanbase of MxO to tally up against all the other stupid big games with wizards and faries. Esentially it was one large uber band-camp ...errm... 'communal activity' discussing how good our game is.
I love the fact that you reacted to players statements here (congratulations on that - that was something Walrus NEVER did.) And give at least some shred of indication to developments on this issue. You have a HUGE Kudos from me for that. Although you may think the idea's for 'looking glass' are null and void, ready for re-evalutaion, some of the idea's here have been clearly celebrated.
Through the looking glass posts - congratulations on a great success. You have brought a unique angle on issues that Walrus couldn't have done. We now have, thanks to you :
~Event summaries.
~Insights into the storyline, and what should have been conveyed.
~News of the office, whats happening within it. (Although I don't agree with knowing personal stuff about Devs.. it makes you seem a little unprofessional.)
~News on the boards
~News about info on the boards that is essential to understanding the game in a newer focus.
~Trivia surrounding the matrix trilogy.
Now, As players have said before enough times, they would like to see a Walrus-type post, then yours intergrated into it also. It's just something that the community has gotten used to, I suppose - Which I think is a terrible thing that signals the death of a community - that we cant adjust and embrace change. You won't be able to sway all of us over straight away, but please dont give up on what you're doing. I really liked it, and a load more of us did too.
I understand that while you didn't have much to post about this week, you could have gone searching for something interesting to relate to us, at least about MxO or something else. A good few pointers would have been : (Again, highlighting negative and positive issues)
Recursion Olympics?
The loss of Liaisons recently?
Sketches threads, are people enjoying them?
Opening a new thread, what could it entail?
Player events?
Flame threads - start treating each other with respect?
Funny posts?
Winners of your sig competition (when you get one up)?
And If it comes to a new focus? I think you've already started one --->
Use this thread every week to interact with the players on news that has been happening during the week, like you are now. Use it to highlight issues that are occuring within the confines of this great community that make us feel good.
'Interact with the Looking Glass'
. We want to hear about that stuff, no matter how small or trivial it may seem. If they don't give you anything, well, hover. If that doesn't get you anything, beat it out of them! (I keed, I keed. . . .but only a little, hehe). If you have something small for three weeks running, and then something really big, well, that's how this article used to blow us away.
