As you know, when you double click a character you see, you will invite them to team.

Also, if you are in a team with someone who isn't in a faction, if you double click on them, you invite them to your crew.

All I ask is, can the default on both counts be changed so the default is double click to see their details?  The amount of times I have randomly been invited to someones team, or when missioning with a factionless friend I have invited them to my crew SMILEY  This will help us save face and stop any unwanted recruits.  SMILEY

Aye, it would be swell for the Devs to add this to their list of stuff to-do in the future.  I've had a few times where I've invited someone to either my crew or team by accident when trying to click a door/hardline in front of them.  My recommendation is to either set it to Details or Follow by default, whichever is easier.

Don't use the Tab button. It automaticlly wants the selected person to join your team OR if you're already in team, wants to invite him/her into your crew o_O

Happened to me dozens of times because I jump through commands with Tab.

I never use Tab, didn't know it did anything SMILEY

Also, follow would be ok, but I wouldn't like to accidently double click on them if I am trying to go to to the HL, and leave to go AFK and come back to see I am following someone accross Mega City SMILEY

Best just make it Details, that way, all it does is open a little window, no invites, recruits or following.

Either make the double click show their details or for a /t
#36300245310 05/25/2007 12:19:13 Re:Double Click Accidents
I think of all the options, showing their details makes the most sense. I've wished for this for ages. And it really shouldn't be hard to do.

And that blasted Tab issue really ticks me off! Many a time I've had to explain to someone why I need to kick them from a team. I think I remedied that problem by changing te key assignment, but I can't remember.

I agree. I haven't had this problem too many times, but it's still annoying and makes little sense.

Bringing up a /tell would be ok, but if your typing a large speach to help someone and have to check the HL and someone gets in the way and all the text goes to make room for the /tell >_<

With Rarebit looking into making the /details window a bit more detailed by adding Rep points (yes, we will see how faithful you are now) it would make a pleasant suprise to get the background of someone appear, some of the backgrounds are very good and are a brilliant read in themselfs.

I think the fix for this is easier than that:  just call up a prompt:

Invite [person-name] to Crew?

The user understands that this particular action is a big deal; can't imagine them griping about one extra click, given all the trouble it saves.

For Invite to Mission, you just don't call the prompt window method when the user accesses via the "/invite" command.

Just a thought...

A work-around for this problem is to use a right-click over the RSI, which targets them and displays a menu, but the menu vanishes the moment you move the cursor off the RSI.  So, do a "drive by right-click" and you'll target without any chance of Invites or Interlocks.  (I learned this when trying to target Agents to do a /shakefist, /loser, taunt etc. at them and I kept Interlocking them instead, which is not at all the same situation!)

That'd be a lot harder, actually. A brand new window, command sequence and programming exceptions for the /invite command. Whereas all they should need to do to change the default action is change a pointer or the contents of an array.

Ya know, both teams and crews offer the boot and remove function...for those accidents.

Indeed we do, but it is still an unessicary inconveniance, just a simple change to have their details pop up rather than a team/crew invite.

Sounds like a user error.

=O can't break no evade bubble but their future? I thought she's only a guideline and as far as we know, guides can do nothing about your future. Well, she could have told the guys that they'd die tomorrow, they'd probably have believed her and seppuku'd even before midnight =/

I want the Oracle to bounce on my shield..... actually.... mabey not o.O

And with Hostile NPCs, I have found details better as my MA alt is leveling and I preffer her to search a computer and open a door before I interlock an NPC so it has more pros than cons.

Yeah. It would be arkward if the Oracle got her freak on and does that move jumps right on top of me into interlock. If it was Agent Pace or Ookami that would be better. SMILEY

*cough*

If that had happened, it would have been a milestone in MxO history. With picture evidence of course.
