I've been working my way down the coder tree and there are some abilities that I can't find on the vendors I've looked at.  I know some abilities are only coder made.

Will I automatically be able to make those when I level up code writing or do I need to get some sort of pattern for them?

Also is there a place where you can lookup which abilities are vendor bought and which ones are created?  I'm specifically looking for Static Blast 1.0 at the moment.

Once you get code writing to level 15 you can code down to the 5 main 'makers', with those, all you need is levels to code everything up you need to make everything..

Thanks!

Does that mean there's essentially no reason for me to buy a skill from a vendor unless I want to get it earlier than I can code it or don't want to waste the materials?

Even when you can attempt to code things it doesn't mean it will be succesful, everything has a difficulty and being the same level at the difficulty is only 50/50 chance of success I think.  So find a signal booster (Near Tabor E) and that will boost your coding skills a little.  If you are failing it a lot, you may want to just go and buy it if you can.

yes there are many coder vendors. some have the same assortment as others but i found out basically the higher up the level of the local hostiles the higher level abilities are available. so like, the vendor in Uriah, Richland, will have a different selection then Industry Square downtown. I've never went around and checked out alll the vendors though and have no recolection as to wich vendors have what abiilties, I make them and you'll prolly be doing the same once you get the hang of it. Dont sweat it when buying the cheaper abilities, like under $10k, your actually using up bits that you can sell for more then your saving. plus it takes longer.

for a complete list of most all the vendors including Coder and Code Shaper vendors, check out this link (hopefully its not outdated, alot of websights imformation can be, but i dont think these vendors changed much if at all)

as for your second question, Yes the abilities you have a chance of success to code will "magically" appear in your Analyzer Tool. Under a booster dish, while wearing clothing items that have an Ability Crafting bonus and i had almost no problem making any ability that i could learn and use at level 8 (prolly could of been sooner but i didnt try).  To increase your success you can also use the Green and Red frags to increase your chances, a green one can be bought by the frag vendor near the Appol SE hardline for $1k and I always get +1.  Red ones i find on the market for 10k frequently and i store a few away for emergency use and I always get +5 (those Awakened Interfaces and Subroutines aren't actually as "worthless" as most people think). To use these frags, simply highlight a frag in your inventory, then click on the Coder ability on your hotbar (or ability list window), you'll then have a limited time with increased profeciency in all decompiling, coding and crafting endeavers.

Sory i didnt see your question sooner, you prolly figured it all out by now, but i thought i'd reply just in case and maybe other new people may see this.

you can buy most abilities from vendors near subway stations.

not in richland, but if you just ride around all the subways - youll find what youre looking for.

although, coding is the cheaper alternative - given you have the proper code fragments.

I would go with Catzi on this one.  Buy the lowbie abilities and start coding once you get to lvl 10 abilities.
