Agh...It's too hard to see!

Hopefully this means they will get down to business, finally.

A view from under the water with red reflecting off of it, I think.

This looked cool, nice atmosphere. Sounds like the Apothecary may have to be on her guard SMILEY

I think it was a marking thing in that KFC sold the likeness of the Cornal to WB so now every time I see the Architect I crave chiken.

It doesn't look good for Pace nowadays, she's been acting very odd, and the moment she piped up the Architect dismissed her.

Hopefully this idea of hers will get her back in the good graces of her superior

It looked to me like she was dismissed because of the idea, but it could also have been that it wasn't her place to talk.

Poor Pace, well if the Machine's don't want her anymore, I hear us Cypherites are in need of a new program in our ranks, she will be a welcome addition!

I've always thought it was entirely intentional to make you think of The Colonel ("Kernel" ):

In computing, the kernel is the central component of most computer operating systems (OSs). Its responsibilities include managing the system's resources and the communication between hardware and software components. As a basic component of an operating system, a kernel provides the lowest-level abstraction layer for the resources (especially memory, processors and I/O devices) that applications must control to perform their function. It typically makes these facilities available to application processes through inter-process communication mechanisms and system calls.

I don't know what to take on this Pace dismissal. It's hard to get a grasp as to why. Was it because of recent events, or is the Architect already very certain about what he will do about The CYPH.

Its nice to see the Architect i have only seen him once and that was in a merv archive mission. its a shame the screens are so dark you can only just make them out but thats how the matrix is at the moment... a dark place.
#36300237114 05/15/2007 05:42:01 Re:[7.2.4] The weather will soon reach its critical stage - Syntax - 5/11/07

Why does everyone assume that she was dismissed because the idea sucked or that the Architect didn't listen to her.

It's clear that it was foreshadowing and that the implication is that she in fact, told him, but we're not meant to know yet. Don't forget, they are all part of the same system, they don't necessarily need to speak vocally to communicate. That's just for appearance's sake.

#36300237171 05/15/2007 07:59:58 Re:[7.2.4] The weather will soon reach its critical stage - Syntax - 5/11/07
I agree. The Architect will have known what Pace was thinking immediately.

Nice, I enjoyed reading that. Had some tension in it.

Cant wait to see what happens.

#36300237242 05/15/2007 10:48:29 Re:[7.2.4] The weather will soon reach its critical stage - Syntax - 5/11/07
Agreed. Dispite what has happened to Pace, she is still obviously trusted by the Architect, even if only for him to find out if her programming has been damaged enough that it prohibits his will.

I dislike it.

1. No one finds out what else happened
2. No one should know about it anyway either...
3. It's bad enough that no one finds it, but when it's someone we probably won't hear from for another year or so...

1. It's obvious that there's more that wasn't shown, that's what i'm talking about
2. It would have been referred to later by gray or pace most likely... Why would they post it on the forums? Back in the day there weren't any posts and people found out just fine.. (Honestly this stuff happens all the time, like when Cryptos was found out. Veil was like "Let's keep a lid on this" only to post it the next day.. Same thing when flood screwed up trying to negotiate a non-aggression pact w/ the general and didn't want the Merv to find out. Better hope he doesn't read the forums >.> )
At least sometimes I can understand it when they have nothing to hide. But if they were gonna show part of it they should've just shown all of it... What we did hear was of little consequence anyway.
It seems like it shouldn't have been seen since he didn't write a summary. But that part is just my opinion.
3. Well, there was a sizable group during the sleepwalker event, which is the only other one i know about. Sounds about right since he only has two posts... I know he only shows up during crisis which means this might just be the last time we see em. Kinda stinks to have missed out (though i probably wouldn't have seen him/it anyway, being that it's kind of a Mach event)

Edit: didn't need double parentheses

I actually like this event a lot and that no one stumbled across it.  Usually when people come upon these things they ask stupid questions, like "Whats up rare?"  Even if I myself had stumbled upon this I don't think I would've said anything.  Either way, this peaks my interest, I'll be watching Machine reports closely...

Well, none of the stupid stuff, but none of the event either...
Once in a while can be nice i suppose, though when live events are pretty much the content for some people this type of thing would be best left in small doses.

((lol wierd i asked him just after this (before seeing the event) this...
Have you ever at one point tried to control more than two characters, if so how did it go? and if not would you ever consider trying?Yeah, I can do it if I run two clients on one machine (one with the -clone parameter) and task-switch between them. While dual-clienting I've tended to crash while trying to switch and toggle UI a lot (Kid/Gray battle in Camon), or if there are a lot of players around (Oracle/General/Niobe commando battle in Mara, Niobe/Kid/Morpheus? in the Projects). There's a theory that if I run from separate installs of the game on the same machine it will be more stable, so I'll have to give that a shot pretty soon here.))

If you wanna argue your case then technically they would also have to stop the Cinimatics too as they show things that certain orgs should not see etc, you can not follow a story or be involved in a story without knowing the plot, that is a known fact. It was just an event where no one happened to find it. Which is kind of sad because of the people involved and (apparently) the masses of people in /who range.

If you wanna argue your case then technically they would also have to stop the Cinimatics too as they show things that certain orgs should not see etc, you can not follow a story or be involved in a story without knowing the plot, that is a known fact.

Well, having it posted everywhere prevents the story from progressing naturally. All you have to do is ask someone who knows. If there wasn't a report it's because there were no witnesses, or there wasn't supposed to be anyway. We didn't have this forum originally, you know?
Trust me, I've followed the story without knowing the plot several times this week.

I'd rather they not make "secrets" if it's going to be posted all over the board the next day.

Well, that's my thoughts. I could be wrong about it and it wasn't "leaked" just no summary.

#36300242929 05/22/2007 14:23:24 Re:[7.2.4] The weather will soon reach its critical stage - Syntax - 5/11/07
I thought it was an excellent bit of story, although some of the screenshots weren't as clear as usual.

It is good to see that the Architect is directing his subordinate programs in person, althoough it does show that he is concerned about the state of affairs.

The weather's 'critical stage' sounds quite forboding.. According to Pace Sati has been rescued by some unusually efficient operatives from Zion, I would have thought that the weather would be returning to normal...

Also, I am concerned about Pace, she has not been the same since she was attacked, this could be down to a mere attitude adjustment by Pace herself, or something more sinister.
