A) Post a clear method for each and every DN1 user to get their name changed.
B) Revert anyone whose handle was changed back.
100% one way or the other. No in betweens.

Maybe you should moderate the thread titled "**CENSORED**" as that violates the DN1 TOS as it regards language, which is a higher violation then spam.
Then again, maybe I shouldnt have to point things like this out to you, it is your job after all.
Guys give me a sec so I can sort things out and try to make some right with this issue...
Please!

Sure thing, Jurymen. As long as I know you, Serenity or Paradox is looking into it.
Just real quick lets keep this to one thread... I moved the other ones.
... oops.
Edit: Hey, really, I would like the original thread to be put back in the public section. There wasn't any flaming in it, and really had some good discussion in there.

Ok. So to quote what i said 4 or 5 threads ago...
Keep Inconsiderate flames out thanks! =D
Set standards.
Fairness.

There was no flaming from the core members of the discussion. What you were receiving, Havocide was disagreement.
We were simply vehemently protesting, and there's a huge difference between that and flame.

I will look over the first thread and if things are ok then I will move it back and we can use that one.
For now lets just keep it civil.. not hard to do. We are all entitled to a say in this so lets use that right and make it good.
Just keep in mind that you might not know the true story behind the actions of someone else...
Hang with me guys. Thanks!

There you go. Dissent does not automatically equal flame, or something lacking in civility.
Thank you Jim Cunningham Jury.

First off Night Trace is correctAlways.
Moving on to the topic of new moderators. The key word is new, they are still learning how things work on this side of the fence. During this process it can cause problems and that will lead to people becoming upset with the moderator. Now the first thing someone will do is call that moderator out and make a public scene. Trust me I understand that your upset but by making a public scene about things is not the best thing to do. Now yes I think that you all have the right to know what is going on when it comes to things like this but how things are going now it would be better if the issue is sorted out in private and THEN we will inform the public. So to sum this one up we have to stop with the moderator bashing. If you have a problem with another mod you can always send a PM to myself and I will make sure the right people are informed of what is going on and something is done OR if you ever have a problem with myself or you just want to go direct with someone above me please feel free to PM one of the admins.

The first week, I was willing to say accept "he's new". It has progressed well past that point now. And I have in fact PM the appropriate people as you suggested. Can we get an official timetable when "new" stops being a crutch to lean on?
Ahh finally, a modicum of mature reflection brought to the proceedings. Needless to say, we the undersigned will keep the thread flame-free in order to impress our opinions onto the unsuspecting masses.

See this is the stuff that has to stop. Nothing will get done if we can't get along. This is a pretty good summary.
First off Night Trace is correct in saying that only moderators have the final say in what is spam/flames/etc. and whats not. One of our problems we have is people are us to saying "thats a flame" in public and sometimes that will provoke the other party causing them to make things worse. There is a easy fix to this... report the thread. Don't say a word.. just report. You can tell us how you feel about said post/thread in the report and we will take it from there, thats why the feature is there. So the next time you have an issue with a post/thread just report it! Don't call people out.
Next one my list is this new wave of public fighting I have been seeing on forums. This could be due to the lack of moderators and what not but we won't go there right now. Only thing I have to say to this is it HAS TO STOP! We can't have players calling each other out on and then proceeding to bash the hell out of each other. If you can't say anything nice and remain civil then we will have to resort to suspending players from the forums. Just be advised that if this does not stop soon we will take harsh actions to make sure it does.

Now to the name issue. This has always been a touchie subject and there has never been a set in stone answer to it other then if it violates the TOS we will change it. Now we do have some members of the community that got their names changed for other reasons... reasons that you might not know about and will not know about. Just keep in mind that you may not know everything when it comes to something like this. Unless you know the entire story it's best to just shut up and trust me, unless your Raijinn or another admin you won't know the entire story.
So now we come to the part where I tell you what should happen with the name change issue... well nothing until tomorrow because Raijinn is not around during the weekend. But I hope you all can trust me when I say that I want to get things worked out between all of us and I will not rest until that happens. All I ask is that you remain civil with eachother... think things through... use the proper tools... and obey the rules.
I'm open to questions, I would prefer that you PM them to me because I like to be more one-on-one when it comes to things like that.
Now I'm going to unlock this in hopes that we can work things out... start a new... and be nice to each other... because if we can't do that then your gonna see the bad side of Jury... and we don't want that!

Main points: People want fair treatment on getting names changed, as some of us have. Its more complicated than this so i'l wait for someone else to post.
Nope there's no extra complications.
Simple..
Fairness.
Set standard.

This mess developed because people misconstrued what people were after. It is, as Yasamuu said, about principle, fairness and an equality in standards.
That's all.
There should be a stickied statement of intent at the top of this thread, if that's what it takes. After 12-15 hours you'd think that repeatedly offering this statement would have resulted in it sinking in.
I await PST to catch up, with great anticipation.

In brief there have been a few people who have had there forums handles changed despite a policy by SOE saying that they would not do so unless the name was offensive or inappropriate. Now because a select few players have had there names changed it has lead many to believe that the Administration behind the forums is playing favorites and that either there names should be changed back to how they were or that everyone be allowed to change there name.
I'm sure there is more to it but honestly if you are not apart of it I wouldn't recommend looking further into it.

Viva lack of annoying zero in Paperghost.Glad this is sorted!
The situation didn't rest on whether or not my name was changed, I didn't even feel the need to ask until Raijinn posted. There are still queries and issues with the situation as a whole. The increasing amount of name changes is just a step in the right direction.
