====A whisper
Back in the dark cell, nothing moves but my chest slowly upwards and downwards, it feels like someone is standing on it.
"Wraith my dear - i need your help."
The whisper creeps along the wall like an insect and pulls itself into my ear and burrows inside. It sounds high pitched and ghastly till it stops and seems soothing, calming - almost warm. Some light seems to come into the room as i look up.
It's not a cell, were infront of some building in westview, i don't know where but i recognize the sky and see the ocasional blood drinker in the distance, they look spooked. I lazily turn to my side and see the familiar nurse who has that taint of evil that seems so alluring - why now though - i seem to recall being nauseous around her before - but her scent i drift lazily as she tosses something to the ground i try to look at it - a syringe maybe? No she's far too sweet to do that - it's nothing i'm seeing things- that's it.
"mercury....."
It's all i can force out as i seem to drift in and out of sleep.
"My sweet sweet wraith, you need to go inside and make the bad men go away, they want to hurt me."
Her voice changes into that pseudo-innocent tone as she purses her lips.
"And we wouldn't want that would we my sweet?"
"No." The word slips from my lip as if it wasn't my own.
"Good boy" She says patting me on the head - i want to feel insulted but i don't this is bizzare -
She pushes me towards the door and with an exaggerated sweeping motion with the backs of her hands i head inside, i hear a twisted cackle from behind me - but it's not her - not my sweet mercury.
====The Casino
I move through the double doors and inside, a strange smoke seems to loom in the air, it's out of place but only i seem to notice it. The bar is to my left and the gaming tables to my right, some doors beyond the tables, a metal cage window to the left. A small time operation i'm not impressed i --- They want to hurt mercury - i'll teach them all.
I move to the bar - three people seated one at the juke box, and the bartender. I move behind the music appreciator and allow him to get a closer look at the selection. That familliar silence encases the area after the smash of the glass echoes. The blood covers the albums below as i grab one of the shards from the machine and move towards the ones seated. The first turns in time to have the sides of his head part ways over a simple shard of glass. I release the shard and grab the pistol at his waist. Firing through his torso blood splashes the two behind him as the bullets follow through, they fall to the floor. The first hits with a dead drop, the second squirms and opens his mouth but i hear nothing.
I put another two rounds into the one on the floor and turn my attention to the bartender- he's fumbled with a sawed off and loaded it as the next round leaves the chamber - he fies backwards into the bottles behind him, smashing most of them spillng the contents onto the floor. Seconds later several more explode behind me as i turn my attention to the gaming room - two gunmen attempt to drop me - blood splashes from my direction but i don't feel anything - strange.
I empty the pistol in their direction and move behind the bar, i can hear them reloading and see blood pooling below me, it must be the bartenders. The two of them move towards the bar, one covers his partner as he leans over the edge towards me, his final mistake as the sawed off makes short work of his head. His lifeless body falls on the counter as i get to my feet, i grip his collar and the human shield lets me line up the second shot as i paint the wall with his compadre.
I start to feel dizzy, it's rather strange, i can't feel anything but dizzy, i look around the room and see the bottles, below the counter theres cups, glasses and bowls, some rags used for cleaning them, i contemplate trying to stop my beeding - but then - i'm not bleeding am i? No i can't be it's their blood i'm fine i have a job to do.
====Game room
The people still inside cower behind tables, some with weapons drawn, some trying to pick the chips off the table and floor since the gunshots. I can hear more gunshots from outside, i hope mercury is ok- but then i hear her laugh and i can continue. I come around the corner into the room - the roulette wheel is slowly comming to a stop and a few of them start to get to their feet - but thats a stupid mistake as i throw the bottle towards the ceiling above them.
I watch the bottle twirl through the air, the flaming rag sitting in the top of it like a beastly tail dancing in the air, it collides with the ceiling, the shards of glass go in every direction and the liquid inside does the same, the tail collides and ignites it all. Fire rains down on the gamers in every which way as i see them run and panic, the open mouthed silent faces is an awkward sight. The double doors beyond the games start to move - another group perhaps? I toss the second bottle in that direction. It explodes in a ball of flame stopping whoever was comming through the doors. To the left of them i see the man behind the gate, i smile seeing him - he's frozen in place.
I move towards him right through the flame, i don't feel warm but i seem to be smoking - strange. I get within distance of him and tilt my head slightly. I hear mercury's voice behind me -
"Get his keys sweety!"
I nod in a zombie like motion as i reach my hand through the change slot at the base of the cage and grab the guy. I wrench him towards the cage and watch his face smash into it, blood splashes towards me as i do it again and again. As the lifeless body sticks to the cage i grab the keys from his vest and walk towards her voice. As i turn i see the same group, my dear mercury, my good friend Marble, that other one - the big guy with the brades, i don't know him but im sure i do.
I approach them through the blaze and look towards them, Mercury holds a fire extinguisher and points it at me - i tilt my head in confusion and an avalanche of white blinds me - i can't see through the CO2 that covers the area, and as i try to brush it from my face it seems to slosh continually slowly changing in color - it grows darker and darker till i can't see and that same feeling of someone standing on my chest returns. The muck moves into my lungs but my hearing returns just for a bit.
"Jesus, how long were you going to leave him on fire Mercury?"
"He'll be fine, besides the flames probably closed up the bullet wounds."
"You know he's not indestructable."
"True, but he's holding up better then the rest of them."
"That's true, we'll have to........
