This is going to be the start of a weekly thread I will post called Inside Scoop. Each Thread will contain a different inside scoop on things relating to Pop Culture. Once a week.
This week's Topic is More Superhero films in production and will be coming to a theater near you in the next 12 to 24 months. Some you maybe surprised to hear, I know I was.

Ok  Here we go..

First Tidbit
A Green Arrow movie is in the works and in preproduction. It's called "Super Max" The story puts the Green Arrow in a special prison that strips him of his powers. It will start off as a traditional superhero film then take a turn as his true identity is revealed. He is then forced to band together in a attempt to escape with the villians he previously imprisoned.

Iron Man starring Robert Downey Jr is nearly done shooting and will be out next summer.

Here's a interesting one.. Voltron! More of our childhood cartoons are coming to life as producers rush to get Voltron in preproduction. No story is yet available.

Streetfighter
, adapted video game film. Not sure if this will be a remake or a continuation of the previous film with Jean Claude Vandamme.

Magneto is in preproduction with a 2008 release date. This movie is going to be directed by Batman Begins writer David Goyar. His previous Directing and writing is The Invisible (Out this week) and The Blade series.

Sega and Marvel have joined forces to produce a slew of upcoming superhero films. Marvel now a independent studio will finance the films on their own.

First up is The Incredible Hulk starring Edward Norton. Not sure why there redoing this film again but its already begun filming. Summer 2008 Release

Captain America a long awaited fan favorite this project is in the last stages of preproduction. I think this will be a great film personally.

And last but not least Thor.. Ah not really sure about this choice. I don't have much more info on it at this time but it is slated to being preproduction following the approval of the script.

Any thoughts on these upcoming films? Any your excited to see?

Thanks for the Memories MXO!

They are probably redoing it because the last one was so f'ing horrible.

As one of the biggest Street Fighter fans on the planet, I'm happy to say: not a continuation of the previous cinematic disaster.

Be glad you don't. I still have flashbacks of it sometimes; not pretty.
Magneto is my favorite comic villain, I'm interested to see what they do with that prequel, too.

You're lucky. That movie sucked so much shite. DO NOT go rent it. They don't even show that crap on public access!

I've never been a green Arrow fan, but I'll check that out.

Robert Downey, Jr as Iron Man?! So Iron Man will be in rehab?

Magneto will rock!

The first Cap America sucked pretty bad, too. Can only get better.

We got our hands full with SM3, Pirates 3, Fantastic 4 2 with Silver Surfer and Batman Begins ... again, 2 <.< Can't wait!

Anything with Ed Norton in it wins.

Out of interest, everyone is excited about the films and stuff coming out - well, I'm curious. Does anyone actually read the comics? Or not?

Iron man was an alcoholic  with tons of similar troubles that Robert Downey has had.

Wasn't the SF movie a comedy? heh.  It was seriously poor, i hope the next one is a whole lot better.  I never really got into any of the numerous sequels to SF2, but i played the original for longer than i can remember, oh how i hated Blanka.

Transformers movie has got to be high up on my list of old skool cartoon remakes to see, definitely looking forward to it, i've got some of the old comics around somewhere, should dig them out again.

Looking forward to Iron Man too, although if i'm totally honest, i had no idea they were doing a new movie until i read this thread.  It's good to see so many of the old shows being redone...just as long as they don't ruin them in the process.

JK I cannot wait for this movie either looks fantastic!

Heh, I've been around...mostly trying to complete my dissertation, not long to go now though.  Wasn't around on these forums for a long time.  Because of my ongoing, seriously annoying, connection problems i had to cancel my mxo account and couldn't post.

But, i'm back now...still with the connection problems so there's no actual MxO for me yet SMILEY  But the forums give me a break throughout the day.

Anyways, back on topic...erm, Magneto sound interesting.  Though, can't say i thought Batman Begins was all that special, was just another bland action film with a guy in a rubber suit...and Christian Bale is hardly the most emotive of actors, which was probably why he was ideal for Equilibrium, which incidentally was an enjoyable film.  Only saw the first episode of the Blade series, which again, was kinda generic...but i don't know how it progressed.

I hope Magneto offers something more.
