#36300219623 04/20/2007 18:57:21 CODE INFECTION - Player Event: May 11th.

 'Code Infection' Player Event.
 Server: Vector-Hostile.
 Orgs: All.
 Reward: 15,000,000 $Information.
 Date: May 11th, 2007 - Starts 6:00PM Eastern (US).

Months ago, Warblade's recently-created Simulacra was wounded in Camon Heights, immediately brought back into the Loading Area for upgrades. Shortly thereafter, the Simulacra was sent back out into the field for further field surveillance operations. However, some of its Operating Subroutines were damaged -- unresolved and overlooked.

The Simulacra is becoming increasingly aware of itself and its environment. The simple Program is evolving, collecting data to supplement its missing procedures -- data it shouldn't. The Simulacra is now in possession of over a dozen lethal operating procedures and is currently acquiring more strength within the International Districts of the simulation. Several sides want this information, but scanning analysis shows that killing and extracting won't be the answer. Cryptography shields the data this Simulacra carries and extraction will be an extended process.

Machines Operatives are instructed to find the Simulcra and return it to McClane Tower in Akasaka for processing. [ X: 251 Y: -2 Y: -73 ]

Merovingian Operatives, to acquire the data, should escort the Simulacra to The Whote Lotus Hotel in Shinjuku. [ X: -62 Y: 0 Z: 405 ]

Zion Operatives, to take away these operating codes from the machines, must deliver it to Bishop Imports in Ueno. [ X: -215 Y: 7 Z: 72 ]

---

The Ground Rules:

1.] Following: The Sim's navigation/follow routines are damaged. This is how you will need to get it to follow you. You must show to it the bits representing your Org for it to perceive you as a Guide. The Guide will be locked on to and followed to the target's location. There's FOUR (4) bits you must have to lead the Sim.

M A C H
6 2 2 4

Z I O N
8 4 6 6

M E R V
6 3 7 8

The Sim will follow the Red Pill that shows her the code bits until they are killed. If the Guide is killed, the Sim will still follow if they are revived until either that Red Pill reconstructs OR a representative from an opposing Org shows her their bits. Then a new Guide is assumed.

2.] Stress Test: The PVP should be fairly good, but this will test your dedication. The locations are a decent distance apart, so having to reconstruct won't mean it is over. It should also allow for some decent RPvP.

"Hand over the Simulacra."
"No, I don't think so. You wouldn't want this to get ugly."
"You're interfering in Machine affairs. Hand it over, now!"
"Over my dead body!"

3.] Killing the Simulacra: Doing this will cause a reboot to the Shirakaba West Hardline after THREE (3) minutes of inactivity. Yes, revive/resurrect codes will work.

4.] Capturing: To seal the deal and Capture the Sim the Guide will have to transfer a jack-out code over to her. This is done automatically once the Sim has been taken to the final coordinates. It will take TEN (10) minutes for the jack-out code to work and remove the Simulacra from the Matrix, into the proper hands. Rule three still applies, but the ten minute timer will reset.

5.] Rewards: The Guide will receive the reward, but may split it amongst their team however they like.

Nicely done W4r. I'll try to make it for this but that is my usual DDO night. It is far enough down the road though.

Sounds like a lot of fun.

I'm spending the reward already SMILEY (my currently extremely spotty connection to the matrix willing of course =/)

I'll be tossing up a Recap on the Next Ren boards of Vector. I'll give you a synopsis of how I feel it went, personally and OOC:

It went very one-sided. The Machines showed up in vast numbers compared to the six or seven Mervs who showed up in the end; the results made me wish as though we had as much of a turn-out for Live Events. Heh. :p I truly expected the Mervs to put up the biggest fight considering from a RP perspective it would have been advantageous, nevermind the 15 million info reward.

There were a few Mervs, they know who they are, who fought it out from the beginning. I was surprised they didn't think of Master Shadow in a RP sense, to steal away the Sim in those final moments.

I haven't heard any suggestions of bias yet, but it was Zantine -- of Ronin -- who won. Everyone, of every org, received this response when a /tell was sent to me: "Missing Organizational Classifier Routine. Error." While Sarlakk was the first one to visually identify the Simulacra, Ianfish and Ronin came with numbers. Ian was followed most of the way until Tytanya came in stealth during the "capture" phase and interrupted it by showing the Merovingian code to the Sim. Following that, the Machines tightened up around the Sim and Zantine showed the code, breaking the link with Tytanya.

Overall, I feel that in planning the next RPvP event I will be more detailed or precise, less vague. Perhaps it's my own fault, just speculating here, for not advertising with Raijinn's Player Event featurette.

I too thought it was very one sided, though that was of no fault of the Machines.  We basically knew that it would be toward the center of the 3 destinations, since they were basically of all equal distance.  I did wonder why there was no Master Shadows, but I was not about to mention that and give that away to anyone else.

Im sure there can be some suggestions to improve on this event, but it was still fun and gave a little excitement to the monotony of the game.

#36300234919 05/12/2007 04:36:00 Re:CODE INFECTION - Player Event: May 11th.

lol, well i had fun.   its a shame i wasn't sure if i had actually found what we were supposed to find.  i wish the turnout would have been better (though no fault of yours w4r), this was a great idea and had the potential to be a really long and fun event.  thanks for putting it on.

/tiphat to the machines

#36300234938 05/12/2007 05:25:13 Re:CODE INFECTION - Player Event: May 11th.

Yeah, i thought The Mervs would dominate us in terms of numbers, considering RR didn't make it either I was worrying that we'd get swarmed, but to my suprise we didn't. Though i wonder where Zion were SMILEY

Nice work everyone anyways, it was fun.

#36300234963 05/12/2007 06:51:15 Re:CODE INFECTION - Player Event: May 11th.
((It was a very good event and a lot of fun of course it would have worked a better if we had a bit better balance org-wise (that said this is somthing i think we have to accept we can never rely on). I did consider the MS route but thought that would be a cheat, my team also suggested using recall if we could get the sim on team but again i dismissed that as cheating too.... so I guess I am guilty of deny us some chances. I also had the intent of killing the sim but of course it was tagged merov which led me to try and convince sixers to do the same but the poor guy was all alone it seemed. Good stuff overall, thx to war and the rest for coming up with it.))

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess either Recursion, or their Vector alt's.

Well done to W4r for hosting such an event, I'm amazed anyone showed up considering Vector's dead SMILEY.

You gotta remind us about these kinds of things. We have a very horrible memory. And why would you worry about not having a 3 man faction around?

#36300235263 05/12/2007 17:01:10 Re:CODE INFECTION - Player Event: May 11th.

Length was what I'd hoped for in this Event. As a few of you had stated, it had the potential to be a very long. Because it didn't doesn't neccessarily mean that it was any less fun. It just means that next time I'll have to spread the word better...

That being said, I still have another RPvP event in the works but it's still in the planning phase. So far this is what you should expect from it:

- Sign-up, for reasons to be mentioned below.
- All builds, except buffer/healer loadouts.
- Locked loadout for duration of event (no switching loads).
- Elimination via death - one life per character (or possibly two or three, we'll see).
- Unload Hyperspeed and Hyperjump.

The actual goals, rewards, and whatnot are still being thought-out. It will basically be a deathmatch/manhunt in International.

W4r, will the recap contain a line of screenshots that depict what happened throughout the event? I missed it and.. well.. wish I hadn't -- or had some way to watch it on tv at the time. SMILEY
