I'm willing to get you anything you need for a guide section.  Please, lets all work together to get a guide up.
#36300219666 04/20/2007 20:46:07 Re:Through The Looking Glass - April 20, 2007
A little more depth is something I'd personally like to see.  While the updates on DN1 are great, there's things that I personally miss seeing on the main site.

  • Chapter summaries.  Way back when we actually used to have LET to do monthly events, we had an image with the event or chapter name and a small summary of the story progressing through that period.  I believe to this date, examples of what I'm talking about can still be found at www.mxostory.com... I'd like to see that brought back.  It really boosted the excitement from people who visited the site, and made them want to download the game and check it out for themselves.
  • Player of the Week.  Yes, it was actually originally known as Beta Player of the Week.  A player was picked for his/her contributions to the community, a screenshot was taken of them, along with a small interview, and their picture/interview was put on the main site.  It doesn't even have to be of the week, it could be of the month, but it would certainly be welcomed by those who miss seeing the player highlights.
  • TOSOTLG depth.  Something that people tend to want to tune into Other Side for the most are hints about things soon to be released in the game, or in testing stages now, and improvements that are coming.  So if you can per chance elude to any of this, it would be helpful and exciting to us as players.
SMILEY  Just some thoughts.  Don't worry, you're doing great.

Chapter summaries are probably best provided by development so I'll see if I can ping them and get them for general consumption. This indeed would be a good thing.

I intend on starting the Player of the Week feature sometime down the road, mainly when things get a bit more settled.

TOSOTLG...well I'm probably not going to have a whole lot of depth but we'll see what we can do.

Sounds good, I like the effort you're putting in on the community and the Dn1 Homepage especially, as it really needed some work.
#36300219787 04/21/2007 02:53:12 Re:Through The Looking Glass - April 20, 2007
It's dissapointing that there's not going to be a lot of development news--or not as much, rather--but I guess that stops us from learning everything and ruining the surprise like we did in the past. So no worries.

It's good to see you so determined to publicise us more and get a decent image for the game and the Community. I'm sure you'll do a fine job. Keep it up, Raijin. You're aaaaaalright!! SMILEY
#36300219791 04/21/2007 03:17:15 Re:Through The Looking Glass - April 20, 2007

Can't say im not dissapointed in the apparent shift of focus from dev insight/hints to more heavy on community activity but i'll live.
Just make sure you do have something development wise every week or so, or maybe have Rare write up a piece every 2 weeks like a kind of development update, i mean its not like it'd be any worse than AAD, heh.

The MxO community is just natourious for being info hungry ^.^

Chapter summaries, i like the idea and i believe it's being worked on (if here is anything to go by), would love to see them become a permanent feature every subchapter.

Next step to keep the community happy? Buddy keys and working on that damned Guide button!

Oh and also linking/adding to the fanart page (since yourself commented on how uber our fanart is, more so now then when the first wave went in)

Annnnnd updating DN1's screenshots, wallpapers and adding new movies. All with community content of course SMILEY

I dunno why, but I already have an idea for a siggy and an avatar for Raijin...

More effort, less talk SMILEY

It only makes sense...

We crave development news!

The community already knows what's going on in the community.  We want to know what's going on, well, on the other side of the looking glass.

I agree with the posters above me.  I couldn't care less about the forums/webpage/community.  I pay to play a game, not to use forums.

Another thing to add Raj:

Descriptions of all the characters!
Like we have for Tyndall, Gray and Flood, I'd also like to see descriptions for Pace, Veil, Niobe..etc. etc.

There's so little on the site compared with other MMO sites.
#36300221629 04/23/2007 04:09:47 Re:Through The Looking Glass - April 20, 2007

Yeah, hopefully there'll be a whole big storyline section to the guide covering stuff like that. I mean, it is kinda the game's main overall feature.

We can hope. =P

What would qualify a player to be awarded 'Player of the Week'?

I realize that the argument is always between casual players and hardcore players, but I would like to second the request for more storyline information in one single place.  When I have time, I really enjoy browsing the Live Events forum, but I don't always have that time.

Having all the information in a single place would make things infinitely easier for those of us who love the game and world, but have families, jobs, and other things to distract us from what we'd really like to be doing 24-7.  SMILEY

i like the name "through the looking glass" it has a nice ring to it but u really have 2 get a feel about what it means. it is news and announcements that we all want to see and u must realize this.

i really hope that u recieve all the inspiration u need to really fulfill the task before u. u cannot write a through the looking glass report without getting totally immersed in the situation.

give us insight in true matrix fashion; please!
