#36300219041 04/20/2007 01:39:42 MMO Questionnaire - Info prizes.

Menos of Fallen Horizon is currently in the process of completing a project for his work at university, the subject of which is MMO's.

He would be grateful for any and all players here that could fill out and return the following questionnaire to him (where to email be is in the document itself).

I'm sure a lot of us will be willing to help him, but to add extra incentive, 1 person will be randomly selected from all entries to win 20 million info (recursion only), and on top of that, the first 20 players to return a filled questionnaire to him will also get 2m info each (recursion only). Yes, sorry the information will only be provided on recursion, but hey it can't hurt to have some on there SMILEY

So thank you to all that fill it out and help him with this project.

Oh, a little word from him...

"I'm currently studying at University in the UK, and for my final year dissertation I am writing a research paper looking at the MMO game industry, the communities that inhabit the game worlds and why the genre is continuing to grow, including a look at how MMOs may progress in the near future.

The main purpose of this questionnaire is to gain a better understanding of the community itself, and why we play MMOs. I've included instructions on the first page, however, if anyone has any issues with filling out the form, feel free to contact me via email and i'll help where i can (my email address can be found on the first page of the questionnaire).

Thanks for taking the time to fill out the questionnaire, it is much appreciated and will be invaluable to my research.

Download Questionnaire.

As stated in the questionnaire, you may need to turn off design mode, the icon for it should auto popup in some case and you simply need to click it.

I haven't installed Word on this PC either, but it opened up with WordPad (should be default on your pc as well, although I haven't tried it in Notepad...)

I couldn't use the drop-down menus, but I could click on them and type in some answers.

Done.

The "How many FREE MMOs do you play" question needs an answer of 0 as well.

Hey all,  Sorry i haven't been able to post until now...i've been having some long term connection problems.

The drop down boxes are meant asa guide, for anyone that either doesn't have word, or is having problems with the controls used on the questionnaire, feel free to delete the relevant box and enter your answer in it's space.  Not ideal, but i can work with the answers like that.  For those of you that don't have word/office, but would like to be able to view and edit MS Office documents, you could always consider using Open Office as an alternative: http://www.openoffice.org (it's a free, open source Office Suite, just an idea for those that want it).

I noticed that too phi, but by the time i had sent the document to be uploaded it was a little too late...maybe next time SMILEY
Sorry i couldn't provide a web based questionnaire Havocide, it was my first choice, and obviously the best option.  However, i just haven't had the time to put one together and test it, the research i'm conducting is being done in a very short space of time....too much gaming, not enough studying on my part, heh.

Thanks to everyone that has completed and returned the questionnaire so far, despite the problems a few of you have had with the drop down boxes, been getting some good answers to the last couple of questions.  If anyone has any problems with the questionnaire, feel free to email me...or pm (now that i'm back on the forums) and i'll help as much as i can.

As a lil reminder, the final return date for the questionnaire is this thursday, 26th April.  I'll still take questionnaires after this date, though the 26th is the cut off for the 20mil info draw we will be doing this coming weekend.

Thanks again for taking the time to fill out the questionnaire, and for the words of encouragment i've received in a few of the emails.  It's all been a huge help with my research, i'll be glad when it's all done though....oh well, better get back to it.

Though I did encounter an error when closing the file after completion. If I haden't saved it, it would have been lost. The prompt came up to send error report to MS. Anyone else get this?

Good luck, Menos, on your project.

Strange, i didn't come across that error when i tested it..nor did the guys that QA'd it for me.  I'll see if i can recreate (if i get time away from writing the paper itself), incase anyone else has the same problem.  Just out of interest, which version of Word are you using?  Thanks for the heads up on this though.

The file saved fine though and i can see the answers you entered...so all is well.

And thanks for completing it Ves and Vampyress.

I hate to necro a thread, but didn't see any point in starting a new one...

Anyways, sorry about the delay in getting the list posted, as you can imagine i've been pretty busy writing up the dissertation and analysing the results of the questionnaires.  Got some interesting responses, which gives me excellent grounding for discussion later in my paper.

So, here's the list of winners.  The first 20 to submit a questionnaire (in no particular order), each will receive $i2 mil:

Voxtex46
Mattku
Aoide
RedBindi
Jeffers
DizzyBlonde
TheEx
Paperghost
Menoeceus
8ayamos
xKhron1kx
DrSm1th
Sattakan
Aelus
Midnight1
phiAU
Vesuveus
Vampyress
SolidRevolver (Recursion: BlueGarnet)
Havocidee

And, the randomly selected winner of the $i20mil prize.....*drumroll*:

Kagerow

If i've made a mistake with any names, please let me know so i can make any corrections (otherwise we can't mail you the prizes).  Congrats to everyone that took away a prize...and a seriously huge thank you to everyone that submitted a questionnaire..i wish i could offer you all prizes, but where would be the fun in running a competition then.

If you haven't already done so, and would still like to submit a questionnaire, feel free to do so.  i still have some time (not much) before this has to be completed, and the more results i get the more accurately i can analyse our community.

Thanks again everyone SMILEY

Name is fine for me, TheEx on Recursion.

I do have an alt on Syntax, however, that's still technically a secret.

*CENSORED*, sorry Ves....looks like i made a bit of a big mistake there, heh SMILEY  You'll have to fight Kagerow for it.

My bad Paperghost, you did put your recursion name on the questionnaire i just labelled the file with the wrong name.  If Aqua hasn't seen this before i speak to him next i'll let him know, and i'm sure we can get the $info off to ya asap....still, one mistake out of the whole list wasn't too bad.

Hopefully everyone else has received their $info ok...enjoy your new found wealth, or for those with fat wallets already, erm, enjoy it anyways SMILEY

And thanks Muse....imo, best...anime...ever, or at least close to it.  hehe
