Just letting people know what's been going on, since I guess people aren't aware of what Brewko's been up to.
I think it's great that he's decided to take some time from what I'd guess is a busy schedule to hold fun mini-events with the players (and not just because I won stuff).
Yesterday he was at Mara Central on Vector and had a Trivia contest.
Questions, winners, and prizes:
What was the date the respec hack was introduced to the game? Nehoe, set of Beta Clothing Who played the Oracle in The Matrix? Bayamos, Oooo Sakura Bandana. What day did MXO transition to SOE? Bayamos, Mobius code. Who played Apoc in The Matrix? Strykre01, Mobius code.
Grats to everyone who won, there was a pretty decent turn up of people after the system broadcast.
And of course, it ended as it always did on Vector, with the masses gathered at Brewko...

Shame he didn't do the white room tourney today that he did on Recursion/Syntax, never-the-less, CSR's seem to have been told to do some PR work with the community after all the controversy over the past few years and we've had the head GM answer questions on the forums; so one would hope we're getting somewhere with that.

Either A: this guy needs to lose his job for yet again doing things other than what his title entails.
Or B: this game really is finished.if these guys have to resort to making csrs do stunts like this to keep people distracted from the fact that they are not making any content, then mxo really is on it's last legs. The players in other succesful games don't need to stand around hoping for rp and items from csrs, they're busy enjoying those things already built into the game ie gradually more difficult and rewarding dungeons, rare items that require work and strategy, not staying online all day hoping to brown nose a live event character...Sorry soe I'll keep playing till my year subs run out,but you guys have no idea what content is..

Meh, I wish I could've been there to get some beta clothes. Oh well.

We're just handing out Beta clothing now? For answering trivia questions?
Mobius Code. Fine. Sakura Bandana. Whatever.
The Beta clothes are probably the most unique items in the game, especially since a depressingly many true Beta players have since left. The Assassin's mask comes in a close second. But hey, maybe at the next trivia contest a few of those will be handed out as well. Didn't get a chance to participate in the Death of the Destroyer event and earn an historic piece of Matrix history? No worries. Just do a quick Google search, and the mask is yours!
Maybe that was a bit over the top, but to wontonly give out these unique items diminishes their iconic status. It's a disservice to the players who worked for the items. What's the point of setting up quests and having events for us to earn our unique rewards, when all we really have to do is be in the right place at the right time when a member of the dev team is feeling generous?

Beta Clothing... Yea, Brewko.. don't do it again.
There are so many other items in the game that people appreciate and are attainable by all - only things that are sacred to us are Beta Clothes, as it stands for something.
Then, of course, perpetual items... which are just fancy non-timered archive effects that wouldn't cause an uproar if given away for google.

as recepient of the clothes i should probly point somthin out. first off i already had the basic set so really all i was gettin was the coat and gloves. secondly they arnt quite the same as the true beta gear, they only possess a single dot of purity so when decade they are gone unlike the near unbreakable Oooo's that i belive can be repaired an infinate amount of times in the unlikley event they do drop stab.

As a recipient of one of the prizes, I am biased. My thoughts are this though. To attract new players like myself who weren't here for beta or CR 1, there must be some hope of getting things like Mobius Code. What do we have to grind towards if we are collecting items - a cookie for a brownie? There should be more rewards, I applaud their effort for doing what they can with the resources that are given to them. Does anyone think it is Brewko's fault there is no new content? He is doing what is in his power. If they didn't show up and do stuff with us, we would complain, if they show up and hand out unbuffed clothes we would complain. They have to balance a fine line. Perhaps they will stray one way or the other, but they are doing something.
<--- Gets off soap box.
Thx.

Shame on those who immediately fled upon Brewko's "Now let's see some PvP" comment, you know who you are.

Heh, well i waited till 3:30am, to see if he made an appearance on Vector last night seeing as he thinks its kool to have PvP torneys in the white room and award HJbeta, in both non hostile servers... yet Vector gets a triva.... nice...
