I usually encourage nearly all ideas I come across here and this one is good but not good for the Matrix I think. If you could purchase or rent any property in the Matrix, who would you be buying or renting from? If it's a "building" "owned" by a program, you'd use $info right? If it's a bluepill you'd use code that looked like "money"?
The closest any of us can actually own anything in the Matrix is take the bluepill, go back to sleep and live the lie once again.
I think this idea could work if players had the option to actually play as a bluepill that was rich or not, or an actual Exile program rather than what was intended. Yeah it'd be really cool.
