So, I finally hit level 50 today, and now that I've gotten that out of the way I'll be free to really immerse myself in the RP side of the game, which I've been looking to do ever since I started. But here is the problem, I'm kind of a loner of sorts, I don't much care for factions, or I suppose I ought to say I don't care for being part of one imparticular, nor do I have the time to devote myself properly to one. But I still want to be involved with the in-game events. I don't think that just because I chose to go at my own pace, I ought to be left out simply because I've really got no one in game to let me know what's going down. Obviously, with player ran events this isn't an issue, I can check the server boards for that information, but I'm really moreover talking about the LE/LESIG events.
I was trying to figure out how I could do this, short of listening to a MxO related radio station, because honestly I like listening to my own music while I play. See, because I choose to solo most things, I miss out on a great deal of events because there simply isn't anyone to tell me that they are going on. I am certain that this happens for others also, even people who do stay well connected, I'm sure we all miss things, and even with the idea I'm about to propose I'm sure we will, I'm just thinking of a way to limit these missed opportunities.
So what I am proposing is that as a collective community, we start helping each other out. Doesn't take much, all I'm suggesting is that if you're in-game and an event starts unfolding, maybe there is someone else who is unaware of what's going on and might like to participate, so give them a /tell about it. Obviously, this is a bit of a selective thing, and this is just a new idea I came up with today, so its not very thought out at the moment, but thats why we have these boards, for thorough discussion. I'm thinking it should only be fore live events purposes, if you're having a private meeting with Seraph, or anyone for that matter, you certainly wouldn't want to advertise it. However, for the big in-game events, that everyone is welcomed to, some people miss ou8t simply because they don't have anyone to let them know that stuff is going down. I think perhaps just a simple in game tell something akin to this: "hey <so and so> somethings going down at <such and such place>" Doesn't take much time, and everyone that wants to be involved can be. We ought to have a list of people who are interested in this idea.
Of course there has to be discression involved, we don't want to many disruptive or aggrevating folks to show up because of this, but we are all a pretty tight grouping, and most of the active community that would bother to take part in this all for the most part understand how to handle themselves during an event. That being said, again i haven't thought everything through which is why I made this post. Another point, is that it ought to be an org specific thing, think of it as calling for backup.
Without further clutter, I'll add my name to the list as a show of good faith, be sure to also include your affiliation, again you don't want to be bringing in the opposition to whatever event you're participating in, and remember live events only, meaning the events in which everyone is welcomed to participate anyways. Also this list may serve as a nice contact list for newer folks who perhapsd don't know their way around, or need help with something.
Oh one final note...if this has already been discussed I apologize.
