#36300196965 03/26/2007 08:02:49 a look at the Awakening gear

most all old vets have our jackets/shades someplace in our inventories or email just sitting in storage. Yea sure you'll the occasional person wearing their jacket or shades, but most dont, and the reason for this being the fact that your choice is either a jacket with a huge fly on the back (horribly fugly in my opinion), or the pravea style shades that almost no one ever wears...

So, here's my proposal:

Offer a 2nd pair of Awakening Glasses using the Void shades style.

This brings me to the next part of my idea. The SOE transition is long since over, and with the exception of thoes who never trades their translocation programs and thoes who've won translocation programs off of a live event, the rest of us already have existing models of awakened gear. What I suggest is giving Loripor 4 requirment sets.

Requirement set 6 would look like this offering the new and more stylish pair of shades:

(i know it says set 5, but meh, you get the idea)

Now requirment set's 7, 8, and 9, would offer an option similar to this:

The collector would take your existing items and offer you a translocation program in return, this would offer you the option to "turn in" your existing awakening gear for the new sytle of shades, or give you the option to turn in your shades for a jacket, and vice versa.

Thing of it is, I've seen enough people photoshop matrix code into their shades for forum sigs to know that people like like the idea of seeing the code in the shades, problem is the pair of shades we have in game that actually has the code on them looks like ***. I've had the shades sitting in my inventory since I got them back in the summer of 05 and havnt worn them more than a dozen times since I got em, and Im guessing the same rings true for alot of other players that have had these truely unique pieces of clothing just sitting and rotting in their inventories since they got them because they arent exactly visually appealing. Now I know I didnt offer an option for a new pair of female shades, and the reason for that is I dont play a female char to know female clothing well enough to suggest a pair of decent shades. So maybe some members of the female community could come up with an option of shades they'd like to see to replace the current ones that they have.

also, something else that I think deserves a look at is the buff that the awakening gear gives. The cooldown timer is way to long, the buff duration is way to short, and the buffs arent really worth it and werent even worth it back in CR1 when +5 CT might have actually made a difference. Either the buff duration needs to be increased, the cooldown timer decreased, prefferably both. Or remove the buff completly, and offer an alternative 2nd effect for it. I could easily immagine something along the lines of an animation of something that was realivent to that time. So maybe by activating your awakening gear you'll produce a mini codebomb or something, it could work similar to the archive animation rewards, last for 1 min, 5 min cooldown, or w/e. And the current animation thats used with the buff that the awakend gear gives could be recycled into something else. maybe some type of a new consumable down the road, a certain type of RSI pill, etc... In the end thoe it'd be something worth while that'd give players a reason to actually activate the item.

Maybe offer a redesign of the jacket aswell? One thing I dont like is the fact that it sits in my email and cant be used, last time I used the buff on the jacket, it lost purity... so out of being afraid that I will lose the jacket and cant wear it ever again, It just sits around.

The jacket and glasses are both Oooo, meaning that they can never be lost as once they break you can repair it and it will go back to Oooo, i.e. not losing any purity like normal clothing does.

While I personally do like the pravea style shades, I would also like to see at least one other pair of awakened shades... and I find the jacket design hideous, so a re-design of that would be nice too.

As for the trading one awakened item for another whenever you want, that's a great idea.

Basically, I'd like to see more special clothing that's sort of like the awakened shades and jacket.... and t-shirts with words on them don't count  lol

It would be cool to get a shirt that had the Matrix code that moved like it does with the shades.

If I remember correctly that the awakening clothing can break, yes you can repair them but you need of 50+ repair to be able to fix them.

Those shirts are pretty half-assed. All the devs had to do to instantly coolify them was to give them a glossy latex look instead of that crappy old matte black

Well if they were to change the awakened items, then they would need to had out a few transloaction programs to a few people, as if they do change it, people who have had the awakened jacket and glasses can't get it again, I would suggest they revamp the glasses and jacket, and to people who have traded there translocation program for them, be able for a one time only thing to change it to the revamped kind.

Why?  They were a present for transferring your Monolith account to a SOE account.  Why does being here a year mean you should also get them?

Say hello to MxO's problem, basically you just said: 'Screw all those new players, dont give them anything to look forward to, it is us that have been here since the beginning that are the only people that matters'  We need to welcome new players, give them reasons to stay, something to look forward to.

This is a very good point.  I wonder how hard it would be to give a similarly unique item only available to new players.  Something unique to each year.

Regarding repairing the transfer items, like the awakening shades.  I love the shades, and was devastated when mine lost a point of stability.  However, with Repair at 50, and repair enhancing items of clothing (shoes, hat, dress, and I think coat and shades) I was able to fix them.
