Sorry to keep asking these questions but i wonder if anyone actually knows? kind of a double question what does the merovingian have against seraph, he calls him a traitor, In the short fight right before the "coat check" fight in Revolutions, one of the guards is seen calling him "wingless" and i have heard him called a 'fallen angel'.

now im aware that seraph is is a biblical allusion to the first of nine orders of angels, the seraphim. This allusion is also evidenced by the fire-like appearance of Seraph when Neo sees him in his coded form. The word 'seraphim' comes from the Hebrew word saraph meaning 'burning'.

As far as I know, it has never been clearly stated what happened.  We know that Seraph betrayed the Merovingian somehow, and that the Oracle either had something to do with it, or maybe rescued him.  But she did something that Seraph was extremely thankful for (as he says in EtM: "You have no need to thank me.  I am forever indebted to you." )

Seraph also apparently had wings, which were removed by the Merovingian.  This last fact was mentioned in some recent live events.  Plus Seraph's line during an old live event, "My back bears the scars which prove I will sacrifice that which is most precious to me in order to follow my heart", seems to be a big reference to this, and could even been very relevent to the current story.  You can read his speech here.

There was going to be a Seraph video game that apparently would have explained his story  Both Joel Silver and a dev from Shiny mentioned this game.  But during the planning stages of this game, the Wachowskis called Shiny and told them to make Path of Neo instead.  I'm not sure if the game will come out later, or if the Wachowskis decided to let MxO tell this story, since I don't think it's ever been explained as to why the Seraph game was dropped.

Most informative, thank you. The reference to that previous event is intriguing! I feel that the other characters in the films and game which all play important parts have not been explained it was all about Neo and the path of the one. I was hoping when I joined MxO last September that some of my questions would be answered in the archives however they have not. In my opinion all the characters require more depth. I hope the latest events will uncover some useful information on the characters especially the Merovingian and seraph as these two and there history intrigues me the most.

The Seraphim were System Agents in the second (or maybe the first?) Matrix version. Some of them have been saved by the Merovingian, but put into his prison constructs, from where they were released by the Boxmaker and put into Pandora's Boxes.

Not sure how it went from there - were they all killed by whatever operatives dealt with all of this? Or did they survive? Because Balthial is still around.

Anyway, I suppose Seraph was one of those Agents in the service of the Merovingian.
