Alright i wanna play MxO on my laptop

Whats the recommended specs for it cos im pretty stuck as my Gcard is like 64mb..

I currently have 256 mb, ram...which i can upgrade no problem to like 1gig.

but whats best?

Anyway, seriously though, performance on most laptops won't be as good as on a PC unless you can afford a good one, but since the last laptop I had I've had endless problems with I might be just slightly biased. :p

My laptop which had a P4 2.4GHz, 256MB RAM and a 32MB shared graphics card could play the game on the lowest settings badly, in that it would be fine as long as I was in Richland on my own so instantly your slightly ahead of me there with graphics. More RAM is needed, I can tell you that from experience, 512 would make a noticeable improvement, even just in the performance of your laptop.

Post a few more details such as Processor, type of graphics card ect, or even better post the dxdiag info and someone will no doubt be able to advise better then me. SMILEY

Minimum Requirements for MxO : System Requirements

It is important to realize thats the bare minimum that will run the game, however if you want a truly playable experience it'd be better to boost up your RAM as previously suggested, also should upgrade your gfx card if possible (laptops are such a pain to deal with when it comes to upgrading). I find that the processor's GHz rating is important, but if you're lacking in processing power you can offset the difference a bit by enhancing your RAM and gfx card, thats what I do, and I'm able to play MxO on highest detail no problem (course I use a pc).

Otherwise yes, without more information on your end thats about all the suggesting I can do.

My main MxO computer is a laptop. Here are my specs:

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ (1.8 Ghz, 1600 Mhz front side bus)

1.25 GB of RAM (originally had 2 x 256 MB, now 1 x 1 GB and 1 x 256 MB)

Windows XP Professional

ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 w/ 64 MB of RAM

There's obviously more but those are the important things. Sound-wise you'll probably want to use headphones. My laptop can run MxO on high settings, and only starts to crap out when you set the exterior distance past, say, 75% (no real performance dip, just building and character models not loading for a while). Just load up with a lot of RAM...that's seemingly the most important thing. It's nice to have a processor that's at least 1.5 Ghz too. A decent graphics card is always important as well, but as you can see, my ATI card can handle it even though it's pretty low end in comparison to today's cards.

well i boasted my ram to 1gig. It loads up. But i cant really do anything, my mouse wont move or anything..graphics are real bad too

Well, without getting any system info I can say that I had a similar problem back in the day, trying to run MxO on an old compy. It would load up, but the mouse wouldn't even appear for me, so I had no way to judge where it was. That problem actually turned out to be an out-dated graphics driver for the card I was using. I updated the driver and got my mouse back, I was able to play, but on that gfx card I was still missing out on some textures and some of the higher level environment details.

Might want to check and see if there is an updated driver for your gfx card.

Mouse stuck in the centre of the screen?

Forgot to mention I had that issue as well. The mouse does actually move, just the pointer doesn't. SMILEY

To fix, in the game directory open up options.cfg and search to see if there is a line which is Windowed = 0. If there is then change it to Windowed = 1 and then the mouse will move. If that line isn't there then just add Windowed = 1 to the bottom of the file.

Then we can tell you what needs to be done.

The amount of video memory doesn't make too much difference. The speed of the video processor and the total amount of system ram are the 2 biggest speed factors for MxO.

Got it working with my laptop.

Upgraded the ram, and g card,

Also maded sure the game was windowed. Works fine, but graphics arnt great..but i just wanted it to load
