The boss is out of town, so once again I inflict you with a wild Rarebit Image Retrieval!
This week we get a sneak peak at the FX reward you'll be able to earn for completing all the Chapter 6 archived missions, scheduled to become available in Update 50.
Like previous archive chapter reward items, this one plays a temporary effect on your RSI. What effect? It's a little something I like to call
You can currently see this same effect on the night-vision goggles sported by the General's shiny new Elite Commandos. This player-usable version sits over the RSI's right eye, a little in front so that you can wear glasses without blocking it. You've gotta move your RSI's head to get the most out of the effect, since it draws a line following your character's head movement.
As usual, there will be a "Perpetual" version of the item, with no time limit, available as a special reward for exemplary achievements. The Red Eye effect is a little more subtle than some of those we've had in the past, so maybe we can be a little more frisky with how many Perpetual versions we give out as rewards. Could be just the thing for that next Merv rave!

Excellent! And yes, I love that it's only one eye... That's one I'd love to have in its perpetual version (The story of Sykin makes use of eyes frequently, and maybe more-so in the future...).
...It would make up for the missing eyepatches in-game...

There's only clothing rewards for doing Merv/Mach/Zion chapters 1-4, Frink, doing each Chapter in itself gives an effect reward... in this case, doing Mach/Merv/Zion Chapter 5 missions will give the Red Eye effect.

In the Animatrix episode "Detective Story"... The Agent that walks into the train car right after Trinity escapes gets blinky-red-eye in one eye for a really short time, in a pause, before he walks in.

lol but seriousley this is a nice reward, not what i was expecting (the full goggle set) but still very nice, and it will mesh up well with hacker code launcers (the low lv ones anyways, not the face toasters)
