Alright, I've run across this bug a few times already:

You try to start an archive mission, but get an error message like "mission could not start" or "my connection is freaking out. ..." "mission system error".

It can't be because the mission is restricted to Richland/Westview, because that's where I've tried it multiple times.
It can hardly be because of overfilled mission areas, because using /who revealed that I'm the only player in the area.
Relogging also didn't help - you just keep launching it over and over and it doesn't work.

Does anyone know a pattern to this bug, like when or why that happens, so it can be reported properly?

I'm sorry zero one but I just cant see the possibility of their being a game breaking bug in this perfectly crafted masterpiece of an MMO.

which archive mission is it ,as i *"think"* one of the chapter 1 archive mission tokens was confirmed as a being buggd.

If you havent allready submitted one, i suggest you submit a /bug to highlight this.

Also ask others in your faction who have done archive missions recently (or even the same one), and see if they have had similar or identical problems.

Just now, it was Merv 1.2.12, but really, that happened with a few others aswell, and I think not in chapter 1. After some time, it started working and I've completed it.

I actually do plan to submit a bug, I just wanted to know if there's more about this bug others knew that could make the bug report more helpful.

And I have no faction SMILEY

Trucidos, what I don't see is why I shouldn't care about this particular bug just because the game has several others. It's certainly not the worst, but really, it annoys me and all the others who've experienced it, and if it gets fixed (due to bug report or not), it stops annoying people, and that's good.

It's ironical, you actually criticizing someone for complaining SMILEY

Anyway, this isn't what this thread is about, so back on topic.

start a normal mission, then abort but don't leave your team, then begin the archive, that should fix it :S

I did that.

The standard mission launched perfectly, then I aborted it and tried to launch the ticket again, without success.

what about starting a regular mission, finish it then do the archive mission?

As far as i was aware, its not a bug, basicly someone else is using a building which you need for the critical..which can be a pain in the ***.

always told just to keep trying every so often, a pain i know but still

I might be wrong with this, but last i knew this was the case

There is an issue if you try to do what we term a "golden ticket" mission without first openning your mission panel first. The issue is that from some reason this window openning is the first time the mission system understands what org you belong to. (Hey none of us still here coded it this way.) If you dont open your mission panel at least once before trying Archive or Pandora missions you might run into issues related to this.

Please note I am not saying that the OP's issue is related to my statement only that with this information you can rule out a possible cause.

Thanks! If it's so easy to avoid, I guess it's really not such a big issue.

Had the same problem with a machine chapter 1 archive mission recently, tried in different districts, at various times over a period of days and it still would not work. Maybe 9mmfu's thing will work.

Could it just be quickly opened then closed then the mission ran when using the golden ticket?

Just a thought

Can the issue at least be added to the CS 'current issues' section until its fixed?

Ok, I just ran into it again (the first time after posting this thread, which was a few weeks ago), and no, I don't think your assumption was correct.

Since then, and before, I've been starting them right after logging into the game without opening the mission panel, without any problems.
I think I just did the same again, and there's the problem. I also relogged several times, activating the panel beforehand, and it still didn't work.

One thing I might add though: this time, the previous one and I think each time I've ever experienced this bug, I first attempted to start the mission in the International district. I have moved to other districts with relogging and without which didn't help, but the problem might be in this district.
