The only thing about this thread's original post that I found personally foolish was the mention of there not being a need for the Merovingian and Machine operatives. In any MMO you have multiple sides to play which help to support PvP -- one of our main reasons of existence over on Vector-Hostile. You need multiple sides. I think we're lucky that unlike acclaimed games like WoW get two sides to choose from, we get three. And to make matters even better, we also get Cypherite or EPN tags which brings the total to five orgs to choose from. It's sad for me to see RP go out the window, as we have so much potential for justifying our reasons for choosing our orgs. We have choices; we have options. You know I wouldn't mind seeing other tags appearing later on, in green or purple, to associate us with other splinter-groups.
Now if only I could kill Cypherites and Zion could kill EPN.
I get a very personal feel from my own Machine liaison on Vector, which means I feel that the LESIG should definitely be more active for the other sides across all servers. You get a sense of belonging when dealing with your liaison as well and perhaps it could one day pay off with interaction with the storyline characters. You need to play the game and roleplaying, puzzle-solving, interaction is the way this one was meant to be played. I participated in a two-month-long puzzle-event that ended with me sharing a mission team with a Zion, a Merv, and The Oracle. Did I get any special items? No. But I got some direct contact with a dev, which is more important to me.
Sure, items are a bonus but they aren't necessary. However, the Area K was a great addition to the game. It is content that we take for granted because we as customers tend to be greedy. We got that, so it's old news. What's next for ME, ME, ME?! Items are being added to give us more endgame content, but in order for the Dev team to keep up the updates, fix problems in place since Monolith, AND get out new chapters and Live Events they need to manage their resources. Give them time to work out some of the issues we have now so that we can look forward to the POSSIBILITY of content later. Just so that you know, by clicking accept of the EULA every time you login, you agreed to a service that you can leave at any time with an online experience that may vary. Generally, this speaks towards latency issues over the internet, but it also can be applied to your satisfactory rating. If not satisfied, maybe not click it? It's an MMO. There are others and some of us choose to be here because it's a better option than Night Elves, OVERLY MASSIVE communities, or Magic Missile...
Yeah, by the way, I like when the server isn't jampacked... Turn up the pedestrians and feel like a Redpill's supposed to feel...
Things can be changed for the better, but I am trying to remain positive here amidst a bunch of negativity. Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day. For what it's worth, you could be right. Afterall, it didn't fall in a day either. Until I hear a press release of SOE closing down the game, I'm not buying into that "this game is dying" crap. The Station Pass price went up recently and SOE's about to release several more games, including Vanguard. MXO, amongst other games, have in-game advertisement with sponsors supporting them. There's a number of inactive players with active accounts. Servers may look dead, but the game is still profitable.
Plus, I'm sure they pay Walrus in pounds of fish.

Monolith/WB definitely had big and exciting plans for this game, but for various reasons, that plan failed. If I had to point a finger, I'd point it at the WBIE execs for not being patient, but I'm sure there's plenty of blame to go around.
I don't disagree with the OP on most things. I will say play the game for what it is, not what it was or what it could have been.
Well said Tzah.
