If only By some miracle that SOE decided to give this game the finance and things it needed to...It probably can.

No and I hope it doesnt. Wow claims to have 7 million subs, though this is a generalization I am sure that a large chunck of that population is the type likely to ruin events, spam area chat, and just really ruin the game for everyone else for a light chuckle. That said I wouldnt mind if the game expanded back to the orginal 9 servers.
I'd type hahahah but i need the other hand to rub the back of my head after falling out of my chair from laughter.

Regardless of what the Devs wish they wanted, do you really think they set up these servers to handle at least 1/10 the servers WoW has? We have lag and crashing with the population as of now. Lith knew WoW numbers were unattainable.
We all know this game was never going to be as popular as WoW, why? cause WoW already has a legion of followers from its game series, so once it came out, all the millions that have played warcraft 1,2,3 etc were going to be interested in it. The large scale player base was already there.
Now take the Matrix movies, yes it had a large following, but not as big as say Star Wars, then from the Matrix movie fans you need to break down those who play PC games, and then those who would play a MMO game, breaking down further those who would actually want to play the Matrix game itself, the numbers quickly get smaller. The only way our numbers will take a big increase is some kinda of large marketing campaign for the game (wont happen) or something else coming out in a large scale for the Matrix franchise which would re-kindle the interest in the Matrix universe for a lot of people.
Can you imagine 5 million people who do not even understand Matrix canon running around MegaCity? We already have vampires and stuff now.
I like to think of MxO as the intelligent MMO.
