Though it was refreshing to get a couple chased down cq's this morning. I'd be willing to let /face and /follow go if they got rid of those hideous contrails. Yes it's that bad I'm willing to 180 on /face and /follow

Okayokay so maybe they could ease the animation a bit. But that's all....

P.S. I like the contrails' look. I hate how it negates the point of backwards hyperjumping..

/face and /follow are just something like /tsuj and NUMLOCK. It shouldn't be removed, because there's a thousand ways to repeat it, so why bother unless you remove the whole big tumour of the thing instead of a sliver?Easy solution: no emotes on hostiles. Shouldn't be a problem.

We already don't have interactive emotes with hostiles, so it's definitely doable.

the "um...no" was referring to dagonet's admission that he'd be willing to support /face and /follow just to see contrails go....not sure where his reasoning ran off to when he was writing that statement...
You see I consider the contrails hideous. To show how much I dislike them, I'm trying to show what I'm willing to give up in the hopes that I might convince people how serious I am about getting contrails removed. I'm willing to give up my campaign on fixing holy wooden bullets if it meant taking toilet paper trails out of the game. It's all about compromise red.
As for removing all emotes on hostiles, while an ok idea on a non-hostile server, a not so ok an idea on a hostile server. I think a good alternative (pats self on back for thinking of it) is make all emotes have a family reuse timer (also helps prevent some system spamming) like 10 seconds maybe? As well make activating emotes only possible when standing still (makes sense no?).
Thus using emotes to track people becomes unattractive because you have to wait before you can re-lock onto someone's position, and even if you macro loop emotes, you still have to wait until you're standing to use them, so no /wave in mid hyperjump or /taunt while running (looks at mave's pelvic thrusts ^_^) By doing those changes it would be plausible for someone to get out their hunter's /target range.
Downside to this, no more break dancing macro's, but again, wouldn't you be willing to give up break dancing if it meant you could /suckitdown to your foe?

So you can only "cheat" every 10 seconds? No way. (Yes way if it's the solution to system spamming, though)

well you can still /taunt and /wave to people who are hostile, you just have to aim manually

Does /salute really have to point you in someone's direction? Can't any decent RPer do that themselves?
I like the fact that it says in system chat "Anamodiel salutes to Da6onet". There may be a lot of people really clustered at certain events, and I want that person to know that I'm saluting at them. Plus, many emotes are somewhat bugged and it's hard to tell exactly what the person did, especially if you're lagging or don't have your graphics turned up all the way. Plus, how many times do you really have someone /taunt you and never see it? *raises hand* I may have my screen looking a totally different area and not even see the emote, and by the time I'd turn around to see who the person emoted at, they could have moved. There could be a group of 15 reds, but I want to taunt a specific person in the group. Sure, I could /emote Anamodiel taunts therednooboverthere, but I wouldn't get the pelvic thrust. Yes, I want to pelvic thrust along with my system chat identifying who it was for, dammit. =D
It'd totally screw over any last smidgen of PVP that exists on Vector and would only increase the animosity among reds. No, I would rather have /face and /follow taken out if they were to take away all of our emotes on hostiles. It would kill Vector RP already more than it already has been.

And disabling the automatic facing function of emotes isn't going to be the end of the world.
It goes like this.
*You manually aim yourself at said person*
*Select them*
/Taunt
(System Box) "You taunt nooboverthere"
*The animation occurs just as normal, you are already facing them so its all good anyway*

We're trying to GET RID OF /FACE /FOLLOW, not find a good alternative to it. I can chase people adequately enough. They'll usually get away from me but there are a number of times that I can catch up with them and finish them off.
Chasing is part of the skill in pvp. If you think the contrails are ugly, fine. Let's get rid of them. But we shouldn't try and find a good replacement to a CHEAT.
