[6.1.4] He's been giving away Anome's dirty little secrets - Syntax - 10/30/06

Hello, dears--

We only met Meillak a few times, but he proved to us that not every member of Unlimit had their mind corrupted along with their body. We didn't know it at first, but there's no question now that Meillak has been helping us fight Anome by giving us pieces of Anome's life before he was awoken--pieces written by Caboclo, Meillak's friend who Anome punished in a terrible way.

Eventually, Unlimit figured out what Meillak was up to. I don't think this surprised him. Meillak's hacking of Machine programs--which have hidden, redundant data-gathering routines for just such an occasion--allowed the Machines to track the hacks back to Meillak himself. We intercepted this data and went to meet Meillak first, to try to save him from both Unlimit and the Machines.

It didn't work. There was an army of Unlimits right behind us, and Meillak didn't want to go. He sounded...he sounded tired. He said many things that we didn't understand, dearies, about what he thought would happen. He said that the Unlimit were doomed, and would die, and that he would rather go now, at their hands. He seems to have planned it somehow--planned all of this. He said it was his choice, and then, right before the end, he said that we would all have to make a choice...I think. He always was hard to understand.

Unlimit killed Meillak, dears, I suppose like he wanted them to. He sacrificed himself... I only hope that the rest of whatever he was planning works out like he wanted. But whatever happens, we won't forget him, will we?

Trust the Cypherites to let one of, if not the most critical figure in the war against Anome die.

Well, it looked like he wanted to go anyway so I suppose I can let you off.

I guess there's one good thing.  He's a martyr rather than a statistic.

You cant save someone who is already dead on the inside trust me.

Also if you guys are willing to trade chat logs of the after meetings RR would be more than happy. Im not sure what was said at yours in regard to more sensitive information but maybe it could help us understand the characters more as Im sure you might be interested in the logs we have regarding Cryptos)

It's a pity he didn't seek more reliable assistance. I'm sure Niobe wouldn't have ripped his eyes out of the sockets.

Anyway... I hope his soul's found peace. Perhaps it's in a digital heaven, perhaps it's in a real heaven. As he said, it's only the unknown- there's not so much to fear.

So the process of separating your RSI from your body and residing in the shell is a one way trip...

The consequences of this could prove interesting.

Anome will learn soon enough (albeit too late for himself) that, to quote a legend, "the mind makes it real".

It's a shame that all he had to reach out to him was a currupted evil *CENSORED* that doesn't deserve to live. He deserved to live but he chose to give of himself which is noble. The future will tell what his legacy is, I hope it works.

We did not ask for your help, or your criticism. But opinions ARE like ***holes, everyone has one, and some are dirtier than others.

Meillak WANTED his demise, and had you been there, you would have seen the glorious engagement.

"To the victor, the spoils" as far as the eyes go. Ask Veil, she can do some Lasik for you.

And if you believe you could have made a difference, well, my friend hindsight, is ALWAYS 20/20.

But he will not perish in vain. He will have his redemption. And where ever he is, he'll smirk at Anome when he meets his fate. I bet if you got Anome's eyes, the story would flip. Whatever.

We did what we could, all we could..........Meillak could have turned the tide. As Veil said, however, he was tired. Tired of the chase. Tired of the "life" he led.

When his plan does surface, and take effect, I've a feeling it will be a major one. He sounded mighty confident.

And in the wake of it all, will be The Cypherites............biding.
